woke up early this mornin and headed out to the turkey huntin spot...

As soon I as I opened the truck door, i heard thunder, and there wasn't any storms around, if ya know what I mean. I got my gear, put on my vest, and loaded my gun and walked off into the woods. We heard a few birds gobbling pretty close to us. Dad split up, and went over to the side of me and a gobbler, in case it went sideways, instead of to me. Well, after about an hour of occasional calling, and lots of gobbling he was gone. 3 coyotes came by, but saw me and spooked(thankflly, they got reeeaall close and i didn't wanna get attacked.lol) So i go find my dad and we talk for a minute. I decided to go down and sit where my dad shot his turkey last season. I sat about 25 feet away from where he was, about 10 yards in the woods next to a plowed field. I put out a jake, and hen decoy out in the field. It's now about 7 am.

Approx. 15 minutes later, i see a glare about 150 yards away from me, just at the edge of the woods. It's a turkey!! He see's my decoys and immediately starts walking in. He crosses a ditch about 60 yards from me, and thats when i became pretty confident that he was a gobbler. He ended up circling around right into my decoys. I almost let him walk too far before shooting. I said to myself"you've gotta shoot tim, don't let him walk anymore, he's gettin away" and then BOOOM. Next thing I know theres a bird flopping around on the ground. I walk out and step on his head, til he quits floppin. I didn't even have to get a call out of my vest and this guy came in perfect. I go back, grab the radio and tell dad i shot me a Jake. It was exactly 30 yards from my tree.
