too_pointer
I think I have narrowed down my list of chokes for my Beretta 20 ga. This will be mainly for turkeys. They are both the same price, $19.99 Primos TightWad extended x-full. H.S. Tky Undertaker Hevi shot extended . I'm hoping maybe someone in here has tried one of these and give me your opinion. Thanks too_pointer
hangunnr
Re: Pick between 2 chokes Mike, If it were me, I'd save a few more pennies and get a Comp-N-Choke tube. The quality is outstanding and the performance is superb. I know they are somewhat spendy but in this case you get what you pay for. hangunnr
archerjg
Re: Pick between 2 chokes I would go with the H.S. Undertaker. My 11-87 patterns well with it. The comp and choke would be a good choice as well. Archerjg
too_pointer
Re: Pick between 2 chokes Thanks, 1 Primos 1 H.S. 1 comp. I have an o/u, and will probably buy 2 chokes. Such decisions LOL I do know I will be shooting hevi-shot, and hopefully be calling that turk in close !!! Mike
borch
Re: Pick between 2 chokes Well even with lead you can kill them out to 40 yards if you have the pattern to do it. Velocity wise the 20 loads hit just as hard as the 12 guage loads. There's just so much less payload to get there. So the pattern generally thins out too much at longer distances. Since you're collecting chokes I'd add the Hastings in either .566 or.562. Both have been proven turkey chokes in several 20 gauge guns. But to be sure just give Hastings a call. I'd also recommend the cnc choke. I haven't used it in a 20 but it sure shoots nice in my 12. Good Luck!
too_pointer
Re: Pick between 2 chokes Thanks borch No, I'm not collecting chokes LOL In fact, I'm looking at the cheapest ones I can find that I think are descent ! I will take another look at Hastings though !! I really don't have a clue what the 2 chokes I picked out have for constrictions ? All they say is pretty much x-full. I wrote down .575 for one choke I looked at, but don't remember which one too_
lil hunter
Re: Pick between 2 chokes I'm not extremely impressed with my Undertaker. It killed a turkey, but it doesn't give that great of patterns, in my opinion.
too_pointer
Re: Pick between 2 chokes lil, what ga. and shells were you using ? Did you actually pattern it on paper also ? Mike
boomer
Re: Pick between 2 chokes I got the Primos Jellyhead if the Tightwad patterns like it. It would be a good buy. At 20yrds I had holes the size of quarters of paper missing in the head and neck on the paper. At 40yrds it still had a real good pattern.
