TreeStandBowHunter
That's right folks, Lowell Lockmonsters have beaten out Hartford and are advancing even more in the playoffs. They start Friday against Providence in Lowell. I am going to game 2 Saturday night. Should be a good game

WNY_Whitetailer
Re: AHL HOCKEY IS ALIVE HERE IN MASS AHL hockey it good hockey...A lot of the guys that would be up playing in the NHL this year are playing it up in the AHL. I've been to two Rochester Americans games this season when they played at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo...The best hockey I've seen in person this year. TreeStandBowHunter
Re: AHL HOCKEY IS ALIVE HERE IN MASS [ QUOTE ] yeah, but it's the AHL [/ QUOTE ] Obviously you don't know much about hockey AHL is good hockey man. These guys are trying to get to where the pro's are at. ALSO, there are quite a few players that are playing for AHL that are actually NHL players. A lot of them are not worried about the money, they want to play. Lowell has 4 players on its team right now that are NHL players. 3 are from Calgary and 1 is from the Hurricanes. I been to NHL games. I honestly think (besides the fact of all the hype being at a NHL game), AHL is more exciting than NHL. JMO
pa_sportsman
Re: AHL HOCKEY IS ALIVE HERE IN MASS I watched my first AHL game in Albany (River Rats) earlier this year. It was very good hockey. Unfortunately, I don't live close to an AHL team. My options are limited to NHL and ECHL. I attended a number of ECHL games this year and enjoyed every one. I'm a big fan of the "touch up" offsides rule and hope that the NHL adopts it this October...or November...or December...

I don't get it, shouldn't that make occurance of a goal more exciting???

Cleveland has the Barons and they draw about 300 people a game. It's a sad sight, and the team has some good young players on it too. Hockey's at an all-time low an that's a shame, they take teams out of Canada and move them to the south. Sure, they'll draw crowds, but it's more of a novelty then anything else, not sure if it will ever really catch on any.
TreeStandBowHunter
Re: AHL HOCKEY IS ALIVE HERE IN MASS Give them time. They are a new team aren't they??? New England and PA have always been big hockey areas. I know when I was stationed down in NC, half the people never even heard of hockey
muggs
Re: AHL HOCKEY IS ALIVE HERE IN MASS They're sorta new, I think they've been here for about 4 years or so. Cleveland, just doesn't support minor league hockey. When the IHL was still in existence the Lumberjacks didn't draw either. The Barons have a guy, Marcel Goc, watching him is worth the price of admission only. Smooth skater, with hands that you wouldn't believe, he was just starting to get some time with the Sharks before the season went belly up. Ohio is not a bad hockey town but, not on the level of the East coast or Minn/Mich. It was coming around, but it's at an all time low. My neighbor ask me to assist him with his bantam team, unfortunately the kids here aren't getting the coaching they need. None...I mean none of them pass the puck, they have no clue about positoning, systems or anything. It's a shame, when I was younger it was a good solid hockey area, now it's going down hill...
