Re: What\'s up With the Birds in OHIO?

I experienced the exact same thing. I just don't think the hens are interested in mateing nor the toms. Had a tom hang up at 50 yards by my decoys with a decoy sitting for him and a jake standing behind her. He just struted for a few seconds and went off feeding. This by far was the most Dismal season i have ever had. And The Do Nothing Right DNR gives hunters 5 days to hunt in a season. 3rd highest population in the nation and the dumbest syestem. O well.. I'm just venting my frustration now.

I had one other season like this when it satyed cold and snowed. Same results. My Hypothisis is they just don't breed much in the cold, snowy, rainy, windy, and Sitty weather.

I had three gobbling up a storm for 3 hours in Northwest Ohio on Sunday but none of them would come within range of sight or shot. The suspense was killing me. At 9:30 a.m. everything stopped as quickly as it started and then nothing the rest of the day. That stunk!!

The first week of season they were gobbling good, and since the BAD weather has hit it hasn't been the same.

I don't think it has a whole lot to do with the weather.

They don't gobble but a few times on roost, hit thw ground and nothing.

Is it just the ones I'm thinking of or are your acting funny also?

[/ QUOTE ]
