You also need to decide on what type of shells you will be shooting. Some use 7 1/2, 8, or even 9 shot, ( if available). AJ Posted May 5, 2005 Report Share Posted May 5, 2005 Re: Skeet shooting question If you are shootinig informal clays from a hand thrower or even an stationary thrower, your modified choke will work fine. Shooting on a 8 position skeet range where the crossing shots are 21 yards away is a little tougher with a modified choke but it can still be done. Some trap shooting friends and I have shot a few rounds of skeet with our trap guns occasionally. Those usually have improved modified and full choke.
