I was wonderin what the number of off-spring turkey's have each year. What's the best way to attract them and hold them in your area.

Re: Off-spring of Turkey

To hold turkeys in your area focus on improving habitat. Basically, you need feeding, roosting, and transition areas (to attract the hens).

The transition area is key for the chicks. It keeps them hidden while the hen can see above and keep an eye out for danger. I hear ryegrass is good for that purpose.

Clover fields are especially attractive feeding areas as they hold insects the utilized by chicks. Hardwoods (mast) are a good winter food source.

Any trees with horizontal branches will make a fine roost.

Maintain a healthy environment for the hens. Attracting hens to your property will naturally attact the toms.
