Deal gone wrong

http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103965

I bought a Bushnell Trophy Cam trail camera from preacherman. When I unpacked it, I noticed a crack in the plastic cover over the IR's. When I opened the camera, it was full of condensation. I took pictures, sent a PM to Scott about it. He suggested that I file a claim with UPS, because it wasn't cracked when he had it. I showed him his picture of the camera, and if you are looking for it, you can clearly see the crack. I asked for my $140 back, plus shipping costs to get the faulty unit back to him. He refused anything more than the $140. Here is my exact reply:

It will be coming back your way tomorrow. You did not advertise this item "as is", because if you did I wouldn't have bought it. As for you giving a "friend" a price break, I'm not sure about that....I told you up front that I could have bought one cheaper on AT.com, and in my eyes I gave $10-20 more to a "friend" than I should have. Now I'm getting flushed for shipping junk back to it's original owner. If that is how you want to do it, that is too bad. Send me my money back, I'll chalk this up a lesson learned......

Not cool.....

He then refused to send me anything.

I hope this helps at least 1 person from entering into a deal with this guy.

Rating for preacherman on this transaction? F-

As you can always imagine, there are two sides to every story and this story has two sides as well. I did sell a camera to Ohiobucks. He pointed out to me that there was a problem with the camera. As he said, I offered to send him back him money and nothing more. Something that I felt good about. He then began to belittle me and go through a tirade of PM's that were nothing but degrading about the product and degrading about me. When all of these things happened, my choice was to not refund the money. I will be the first to stand and say, that this all could have been avoided had he handled it differently on his end.

He was very frustrating to deal with. This is actually the second time I have dealt with him and both times have been very frustrating. I thought this time would be different; but found out not. In his last PM to me, he said I wasn't a man for facing problems, so Tom, here ya go brother! That is my side of the story.

If this is considered degrading you and your camera, you have extremely thin skin.....

I'd be happy to share all of the PM's with anyone that would like to see them.

Bye Bye Scott. icon13.gif

I hope some will allow me to take off my admin/moderator hat here and extend me this courtesy when I say:

Fact is, you sold him a camera that was broke, fact is you reneged on the deal to send him back his money. Rationalize and twist his words anyway you want, this was a bad deal and really unfair to Tom. He's out a lot of money on this "deal."

I'm going to stretch my neck out on the chopping block here, and just say this ...

This was and should be between the buyer and seller, each has had thier respective say on this matter and that's where it should have ended.

But since opinions are being voiced here, I'll say I've bought alot of items from Scott and have had nothing but 110% satisfaction with the items I've received from him. With that being said I've never had a problem with Tom as well.

And if this whole ordeal is over shipping cost, I'll say I've bought things from retailers and have never been reimbersed (sp) for any type of shipping costs ..

IMHO every response including mine should be deleted and this locked up and settled between the two respective partys in private.. again JMHO
