The BEAST is DEAD !

I got in on the bird at 5am a good 45 minutes before shooting light. At day break instead of calling I slapped my hat against my leg three different times to imitate 3 hens flying down. This got him all fired up with out a call being made.

After about 5 minutes I just purred and clucked a little to let him know where I was. He double gobbled and tripple gobbled at my purring. Im think oh boy here he comes.

10 minutes pass after I heard him fly down and I finally see his fan coming through the woods straight to his favorite strutting ground where I am set up with 3 hens.

When the bird gets to about 50-60 yards another bird gobbles about 75 yards to the left of me. When the second bird gobbled a second time, the first bird tucked in his fan and ran down the hill away from me and my set up. I wasn't sure why, the first bird was good size with a full fan (mature).

Well 20 minutes later I see why. A big ole tom came strutting in to my set up! A good load of #6's put him right to sleep!

Here are the stats:

24 pounds

10 1/2 inch beard

1 1/8 inch sharp spurs!

I will try and get some pics up later!
