buckee
HOW Much is a BILLION dollars? A billion here, A billion there Just how much is a billion dollars? It's one thousand million - A number that is beyond comprehension to most of us If you have yet to celebrate your 32'nd birthday, you have not lived one billion seconds. One billion minutes takes us back to the time of Christ If one were to stack money (bills) at the base of the CN Tower, you would hit the one billion dollars mark at the observation deck, using one thousand dollar bills. A billion dollars spent at Canadian tire would buy you 21 million trigger locks, 21 million long-gun carrying cases, and 7 million lockable gun cases (safes) With a Billion dollars, a reward of 1.8 million dollars, could be offered toward solving each and every murder committed in Canada, in the year of 2002. A billion dollars would cover the cost of running every single courtroom in Canada for a year, and still leave enough money to purchase 20, brand spankin new, MRI machines for some very lucky hospitals. If you made a one year old child sit on the bathroom floor and drop loonies into the toilet, at a rate of one loonie every two seconds, 24 hours a day, that child would be finished dropping a billion dollars worth of loonies at the age of 65. The Liberal Government of Canada has spent TWO ( NOT ONE, BUT TWO) billion dollars on the gun registry ......SO FAR They have also MISPLACED one billion dollars, in failing to track land claim settlements through Indian Affairs AND "Over" a billion in the HRDC scandal (remember that one eh ???) DO NOT FORGET .... THIS WAS YOUR MONEY !!!! And who was Finance Minister through all of this?? - The man who is now our Prime Minister, PAUL MARTIN !! - He claims he knows nothing about these scandals ! - How can that be ? - He signed the cheques !!!!! Could you vote for this crook or any of his Cronies who seem to place themselves above the law ??
Shaun_300
Re: ONE BILLION DOLLARS great post Steve, Martin sure won't be getting my vote!! when people wonder where the tax dollars go.... THATS THE ANSWER RIGHT THERE!! i just don't understand what the Canadian Government is smokin' sometimes to be able to spend OUR money so foolishly........ maybe its the marijuana that they want to legalize....... look where that money could have been spent wisely, on finding a cure for cancer, or getting hospitals the machinery that they so desparetly need. the gun registry is nothing but a farse! LMBO, those are some funny pictures!

buckee
Re: ONE BILLION DOLLARS A "Loonie" is our new one dollar coin (we don't have one dollar bills any more.) A "Toonie" is our two dollar coin (we don't have two dollar bills any more)
buckee
Re: ONE BILLION DOLLARS Here's a dilemma for you...what would you do? This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. Please don't answer it without giving it some serious thought. By giving an honest answer you will discover where you stand morally. The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation, in which you will have to make a decision. Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous. Thoughtfulness is important for this evaluation to be meaningful! Ready? You're in Ontario..In Ottawa, to be exact... There is chaos around you, caused by a hurricane and severe and unusual floods. This is a flood of major proportions. You are a photojournalist working for a major newspaper caught in the middle of this great disaster. The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water. Nature is showing all its' destructive fury. You see a man in the Ottawa River! He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken away with the water and debris. You move closer. Somehow the man looks familiar. Suddenly, you know who it is... it's Paul Martin. Isn't life ironic? At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under, forever. You have two options. You can save him or you can take the most dramatic photos of your life. You can save the life of Prime Minister Martin, or you can shoot a Pulitzer Prize-winning photo, documenting the death of one of the world's powerful men. Now, here's the question (please give an honest answer): > > > > > > > > > > > Would you select color film, or rather go with the classic simplicity of black and white? fisherguy
Re: ONE BILLION DOLLARS So true Buckee. The stacked 1000 dollar bills one always gets me...illustrates just how much a billion is in physical terms. I heard on the radio a few months ago the sam thing for national debts. I was shocked...i forget ecactly, but the US debt in stacked newly pressed 1000 dollar bills was about 55 miles high! That is a lot. Sad thing is our debt is proportionally nearly as big...and all teh wasted billions could be paying it off.
slugshooter
Re: ONE BILLION DOLLARS Hey Buckee, try to be a little more original than just taking a previous thread I started and replacing Hillary Clinton's name with this Paul Martin guy. Sounds like you have a wonderful politician up there to deal with, and I thought things were so much different up there in Canuckland. buckee
Re: ONE BILLION DOLLARS LOL @slugger Sorry .... Actually, I didn't copy yours and change it. I had it sent to me in an email from a friend back east. There was also another good picture of Paul Martin the Pirate in the first post, but there was some cursing in the print-up at the bottom. Thanks to a member in here, noticing it, I deleted that picture last night. Too bad it had cursing in it, because it was a good one. Paul and Hillary would make a good couple though
