Re: News From Hometown. Shouldn\'t Have Happened.

[ QUOTE ]

I don't see how a convicted child molester could ever become a Pastor, because the qualifications are that he must be beyond reproach.

[/ QUOTE ]

I decided to look up reproach so I knew exactly what it meant. This is how dictionary.com had it:

To express disapproval of, criticism of, or disappointment in (someone).

To bring shame upon; disgrace.

Now, assuming that that said predator became saved and lived a Godly life, would he still not bring reproach, because he did bring shame and disappointment in that regard, but how many pastors out there have been involved in drugs, gangs, etc. and some have even committed murder. I find it hard to believe that salvation and forgiveness is available to those but not to the previous, if a former gang member who sold drugs and killed can be saved and become a "minister" and is lauded and hailed as a righteous man, then how can the same not apply to everyone.

According to the bible, this is the only sin unforgiveable.

29But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." Mark 3:29

One more thought, regarding the comments from several regarding what they would do had their daughter been the one victimized, about how they would follow through on taking matters into their own hands.

When your daughter needs you the most, if said horror were to happen, don't you think she would be better served by a father that was there to comfort her and be there for her, than having a father stuck in a prison cell somewhere. The child would have already been through one bad thing, then she has to live with the taunts and negative comments about having a parent in jail.

That is a good veiw point from the stand point that one of my daughters was molested and survived. My comments where more oriented around the loss of my daughter to one of these freaks. I don't think that I could go through life knowing the scum that took my daughters life, innocence, and future away for his pleasure was still living. I do have two other daughters to take care of but I think that I would leave that up to God and the jury to decide how long I would have be away from them.
