Squirrelhunter91
Saw a report on Sportscenter this morning where they spoke with Roger Clemens. Clemens has an agreement in his contract that says he can request a trade from the Astros at any time before the deadline. The Astros are in last place right now and he is considering waiving that clause.
buckbuster11
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? Unless the Yankees get a lot better real fast, I dont think it would be worth it to get him. It will cost them something like $17 million to have him play for half a season.
texastrophies
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? Man I hope he doesn't. He is the only reason I even pay any attention to the Astros right now. In three starts on the road this year his ERA is 0, which coincidentally equals his win total in those three games. No run support whatsoever. Squirrelhunter91
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? texas trophies, On Sportscenter they said that in the 6 starts the Rocket has this season, the Astros have scored a combined total of 9 runs!!!! That's it! Atleast w/ NY, he'll have some support.
texastrophies
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? To take that a step further, of those 9 runs, I think he has 3 of the rbi's himself.

Squirrelhunter91
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? 42 years young you mean... lol... he is still in the top 3 pitchers in the N.L. in K's....
texastrophies
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? One of his son's that is still in High School, in the Houston area, has pitched 3 no-hitters this year already. I think family and the deal he has with the Astros that let's him miss games that he is not pitching in to be with his family will keep him in Houston, as long as Andy Petite stays healthy this year. JimT
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? That does not really make sense..Whatever I guess.
texastrophies
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? Your right, it doesn't make much sense does it lol I will try to explain my thoughts a little better. The deal that Clemens has with the Astros allows him to skip games that he is not pitching in to be with his family. After he retired from N.Y., his teammate from the Yankees, Andy Petite, got traded to the Astros. Andy is also from the Houston area. According to the media, Andy was instrumental in talking Clemens out of retirement to join him in pitching for their hometown team together. Last year, after just a couple of starts Andy required surgery that put him out for the year. So, Clemens re-signed for this year to complete what he & Andy started out to do. Hopefully that makes more sense. lol
Rut-Nut
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? Squirell- Why would he want to go from one LAST PLACE team to another???!!!! He's better off just retiring!
Squirrelhunter91
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? The Yankees have potential. The Astros lost Beltran their best hitters. Beltran, Kent etc... Therefore they lost alot... Why are you asking me. Ask the Rocket!
MCH
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? Yeah, the Yankees are a last place team. But they probably won't stay that way. Moose is coming around...Brownie could give them a few more quality starts IF he stays healthy...and their offense alone will win them 60+ games. Don't get me wrong. I can't stand the Yankees. I'm a diehard Dodgers fan and I pray that the Yanks don't make the playoffs. I wouldn't bet on it though.
brownie65
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? Like TexasTrophies said. Clemens is not going anywhere. His family is there. He gets to watch his son play & several other perks.

texastrophies
Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? The Astros just drafted his son, Koby, yesterday, which means Koby now has a choice of going to the University of Texas or an Astros minor league team next year. (He just graduated high school). Bottom line, I don't think the Astros will be trading the Rocket any time soon.
