They are expensive but I have 2 children and a wife that likes the outdoors and it would be safer to ride them on I think...anyones opinion would be appreciated. jerdanmagic
Re: Yamaha Rhino My best friend has one, and it is amazing!!! I think that I have probably logged more time beind the wheel that he has, and I am in love with it. We have had it in every kind of terrain thinkable, and it just keeps on truckin. He put a winch on the front, that has bailed us out of a couple of steep creek beds, but other than that you can take it ANYWHERE. It has decent speed, around 40mph if you really need to get there in a hurry. He also put a plexiglass windshield on the front which comes in real handy on cold mornings and evenings. And referring to your safety concerns, the seatbelts are great, but I'm not sure how they would be for children. I think that like all big ATVs, Yamaha recomends that no one under 16 ride. But I guess thats up to you. PM me if you have any other questions
Guest Bama
Re: Yamaha Rhino I have small children and the only way I would ever ride them is SLOW, VERY SLOW and safe. I know from other sites that the Rhino is a little top heavy and can tip over some but overall it seems like a safe ride. Does your friend have a gun boot on his? I cant picture in my head how it would be mounted!

doubleA
Re: Yamaha Rhino Let me start out by saying I have 2 Polaris Sportsman 400 4x4's and use them alot, but do admit I am getting older and dont really like riding on them for extended periods due to them making me saddle sore While I dont have a Yamaha Rhino I do have a Polaris Ranger 4x4 and a Kubota RTV900 4x4. They are really nice machines for the ranch and yes they are expensive but do fill a small niche for me. These little buggers can do it all too, I find it alot safer also. You can carry 3 people and a bunch of cargo at the same time, something you cant do on a 4 wheeler. All the different brands have their merits, I like the Polaris's smooth ride, the most towing/carrying capacity and it's the fastest one of the bunch. The Kubota is a solid performer in it's own right, with it I like because of it's proven 3 cyl diesel engine, it's power steering and it's hydraulic powered bed dump. The Kubota does not have independant suspension though and does have a rougher ride. I think you'll be happy with any make you choose. Just thought I would input on what I have experienced. doubleA
Strut_Buster
Re: Yamaha Rhino I'd Look at the Polaris Ranger. They look tike then handle work and play the best out of the group. Never looked too hard at a Rhino, but I'm shure thats another good choice. Oh yeah. I'd also get the 6x6 Ranger if I were gonna get one of those. I had a buddy take his mudding and its just awesome how that thing just boars through it.

Guest Finn
Re: Yamaha Rhino A friend of mine bought a Rhino last year and said it's the best buy he's ever made. If I had the cash, I'd have one today.
AaronS
Re: Yamaha Rhino [ QUOTE ] big buck, I was'nt aware that Honda made something comparable to the Rhino, Ranger,Mule etc. What does Honda call theirs? [/ QUOTE ] They don't, someone is just brand bashing. I have a couple of friends with the Rhino and they both love it. As mentioned above, the Ranger is another good option, but the Rhino and Ranger are two different machines. The Rhino is a narrower machine (not a lot wider than a regular 4 wheeler) which is why you can only fit 2 people in the seat. It will go about anywhere, especially with aftermarket tires. The Rhino is geared more toward play while the Ranger is better suited for work. The wider stance on the Ranger gives it better stability on side hills and also allows 3 people to fit on the seat. Both are good machines, and if I had the money I'd have one or the other. If you can find a deal on one, go for it. You won't regret it. Strut_Buster
Re: Yamaha Rhino I was lookin at this and The polaris has a wider wheel base and is faster. Not as tipy. Also, they are coming out with a 700 EFI model sometime this year. We just got a Sportsman 700 EFI and wow its nice, just a turn of the key and its on. We still have to choke the our other 700 and warm it up. The Ranger is faster, hauls more, and looks to be a better rounded machiene. I'm a lil Biased to polaris but will never knock a yamaha
