PA_Spike_King
Re: whats up in pa?? Well I got my bird the first day, it was a jake but my Dad has been out almost everyday and it just seems to be tough hunting everywhere. Not much gobbling anywhere. VermontHunter
Re: whats up in pa?? Same problem here in Vermont,,, , it seems if you didn't get your bird the first day, you are in for one mean hunting season,,,the birds seem to have just dissapeared or have stopped gobbling all together.... western NY bowhunter
Re: whats up in pa?? The gobblers have quieted down big time in my neck of the woods in NY too . I can't blame them....they've really been hammered with hunting pressure for the past week. Hopefully people will start giving up soon, most of the hens will be nesting and the birds should get a little more vocal and cooperative. That's what I've been trying to tell myself at least...we've still got 3 weeks of season left in NY.
PAhardwoods
Re: whats up in pa?? sounds like a lot of guys are having a hard time of it. I know the weather in PA has been kinda crazy soo hopefully it will stay nice for awhile and get um hot. Next time i'll be home will be the 27th and 28th hopefully the birds will be talking then
PAbowhunter4life
Re: whats up in pa?? I'm tagged out, the birds have been going NUTS in my neck of the woods for a long time now though, and as of last Saturday they still are. Everyone I know is hearing lots of birds and have had a lot of success.
LifeNRA
Re: whats up in pa?? Opening day my brother got a jake, this past weekend dad also got a jake. Friday night I saw NINE long beards and a hen all together. The following morning my hunt got busted when the knucklehead set off his truck alarm. I believe this sent them gobbles over the mountain. But I dont want a jake, unless its the last day!
buckbuster11
Re: whats up in pa?? I'm really having a tough time. I've been hearing decent gobbling off the roost in some spots, but all is quiet after flydown. Usually 9-12 is one of my favorite times to hunt, but I dont think I have even heard a gobble after 8am all year.
Strut10
Re: whats up in pa?? Dunno guys. We've killed a couple nice birds the past couple days, here. Had to work a little for them. But they are responding.
iron buck
Re: whats up in pa?? My problem has been time. I have been out both Saturdays & one week day morning. I have had birds working from roost each time. But they have shut up after hitting the ground. I hope to change my luck Saturday. After that I will be out of town & may not get out more than once. snapper
Re: whats up in pa?? Where I'm hunting...they are still with alot of hens. Somedays they gobble alot...most days they shut up after coming off the roost. Been out every day but 1 and today seemed to be the best so far. What I don't understand is...I had 3 long beards by themselves out in a field around 11am feeding. Had a decoy out....called, they just looked and kept moving along. Never gobbled or went into strut and I know they could see the decoy. These stinkin' birds are starting to drive me nuts!
