HuntingInMaine
Does anyone know how to use excel and PHStat?? I have to do a single tailed anova on a data group. I followed all the directions and get a "this group contains non-numeric data" message, but the group is SUPPOSE to have non-numeric data in order to work the problem. If anyone is familiar with these programs and can help, please let me know ASAP! Thanks...

AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Statistics help needed!!! this is one of the classes that I thought was worse than Calculus, I was telling turkeygirl that there were actually classes out there tougher than Calculus and statistics is one of them. Sorry I can't help you, took the class but don't remember much. Longest 15 weeks of my life!! Lou
Smitteken
Re: Statistics help needed!!! Oh man. This is a class where i learned enough for the tests but as soon as the final was over it was erased forever or so i thought. I don't really know what type of data you are trying to represent. But i thought there was some way group that type of data into a "category" of sorts to where it would count the frequencies of each. I don't have excel on this computer so I can't really tinker with it. ANOVA= analysis of Variance= pain in the butt
Tominator
Re: Statistics help needed!!! Send me the Excel string and maybe I can help you. Most times in Excel you have to put words in "quotes" in order for formulas to work.
HuntingInMaine
Re: Statistics help needed!!! I have figured it out...I needed to unstack the data in PHStat and then do the anova using the unstacked data. I have to agree that this is worse than calculus...I am not too bad at math, but this is a whole different creature! LOL The big final is tomorrow and I can't wait to be done with it....this is the first time I have prayed for a C!
Guest cowpoke
Re: Statistics help needed!!! If you think excel and PHStat are nasty wait until they make you use SAS and some of the other statisitics programs, or do a PROC glmm problem. slugshooter
Re: Statistics help needed!!! Sorry, statistics class is next semester. I am not sure what type of statistics you are taking, the college I go to has like 3 or 4 different types. The Math focused one obviously being the hardest, the Sociology based statistics being the easiest, no great secret which one I'll be in. Of course, us PoliSci majors don't need a lot of that technical stuff.

[/ QUOTE ] LOL I am all done with stats after this class!!! It's Industrial stats and the heavily math based stuff. I have the final exam tonight at 7 pm, thank God the teacher is letting us have a cheat sheet with us!!!
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Statistics help needed!!! Best cheat sheet I ever created that a teacher allowed was the one I created by taking my old quizes because they had example problems worked out and I would shrink them down on the copier and paste them to the allowable 8" x 11" sheet of paper. I would put the old quizes on the front and back. The smaller you copied them the more you could put on that sheet of paper. Teacher o.k. it as it was your choice to create whatever you felt was needed. Just an idea for you guys and gals allowed to use a "cheat sheet" for tests.
