Man I'm pumped, I just made a deal on a Win. Model 70 .225. I've been after the guy to email some pics of it for a week now, and he finally did today. She is a sweet little piece. So I emailed him back telling him I wanted it, and he returned a message telling me he is holding it for me. On the weekend we will finalize the payment, transfer, and shipping methods. It comes with about 250 brass, and RCBS dies. I've been sitting on 400 brass for a .225 for few years, so now I can put some of it to use. I'm not sure what year it is, I don't know the serial number yet. I can't wait to get it. Yeehaaa!!

The .225 Winchester was introduced by Winchester back in 1965. At this time Remington standarized the .22-250 as a factory load. Winchester brought the .225 into existance to compete with Remington, after the .220 Swift died off. The .225 is very similar to the .219 Improved Zipper, a wildcat cartridge. Winchester had big plans to introduce many different loading for the .225 but the cartridge never cought on so it died a slow death. Shooter prefered the .22-250 as it is rimless whereas the .225 is rimmed and limited to a modified type of bolt action. Winchester has currently brought back the .220 Swift inwhich several rifles are once again chambered for it.
