Black Hills

My parents went out to Wyoming all week and came back two days early because they got a lot of snow out there. For those who know me or have read my posts-I took two seperate small weekend trips out to the Black Hills for turkey hunting. Well my dad-spent two of the days of there vacation trying to fill his tag. May 15th season ends. Its a 10 hour one way drive to where we hunt at.

My dad was actually able to put some bird to sleep the night before and set up. He had several hens and one dominant Gobbler and a smaller tom fly down but they were feeding infront of his decoys-too far yet. He said the one was strutting and he was so ready to take care of business. Suddenly they all took off-flew away. He hadn't moved and couldn't believe it.

He heard something and looked behind him a coyote was right behind my dad's tree and spooked the turkeys. My dad turned over his shoulder and blasted him. No turkey but a coyote instead. crazy.gif

It's so interesting how one factor can change everything in hunting. Just though I would share a quick story. crazy.gif We hunt together in Minnesota next week. I am really looking forward to getting back out in the woods. grin.gif

Re: Black Hills

Those darn yotes! One minute he's thinking which one am I gonna shoot and the next is where'd they all go!

There are several mountain lions in that area as well. However you're not allowed to shoot them uinless they are actually attacking you.

Good Luck in MN.
