LifeNRA
Well this morning I went for a 9 mile walk, mannnnnn my feet are killing me too! Anyways, I havent been in this neck of the woods for about 6.5 years. Last time I was in this mountain was just before my daughter was born. Anyways, I never walked around this mountain while it was green with leaves. Somehow I got turned around and was over a half of mile off the trail. Which BTW isnt much of a trail at that! During the fall deer seasons I never had a problem, now EVERYTHING LOOKS DIFFERENT! Well I marked the head of this trail on my GPS, which I was glad I did! I set a course to go directly to this spot. But as I was reading the lay of the land, it just didnt seemed right! But I put my trust in the GPS. It took me right back to that waypoint! This has been the second time this little devise has saved my butt! This time I really could have been lost. There is two other mountains to cross no matter which way I would have went! The area is about 10 miles wide and about 30-35 miles long! Which is not saying I would have even ran into the nearest town either! If you ever think about getting a GPS because you wonder into un-known areas, DO IT!!! You wont be sorry!
Tominator
Re: I Got Lost! Thank You Garmin!!! Yep, they're neat. I'm glad I had mine the one time I was on my lease. The GPS took me through some rough terrain, but I found my truck.

Guest andymansavage
Re: I Got Lost! Thank You Garmin!!! I got lost last muzzleloader season in the uinta mountians(ever seen jeremiah johnson?). It was the worst hunting experience ever. Finally I said a prayer and chose a direction and ended up close enough to camp to get a radio signal to my group. This spring I bought a GPS unit. I have a family and have to think of them. I also got my cc permit to be able to pack on primitive weapon hunts. GET A GPS!! Pictures I took While I was lost. horst
Re: I Got Lost! Thank You Garmin!!! I got lost on the river a couple years back, wandered into the timber looking for sheds and didnt realize it split off into a Y shaped treeline.Funny thing was even after I got back to the river, checked the current to see which way my truck was from there I still felt like i should be gong the other way even though i knew i was parked upriver and hadnt crossed any roads.Your mind does some funny things when you get lost
dogdoc
Re: I Got Lost! Thank You Garmin!!! i was doing some shed hunting on 240 acres a couple years ago--full foliage and an overcast day. Anyway I was deep in the woods following some deer trails when this dog showed up and started barking at me---then it started chasing me. Not wanting to get bit I ran to the best looking tree to climb--the dog hung around for about 15 minutes and when I climbed down from the tree I got totally turned around. Luckily I had my cell phone and called my dad---he was just a couple miles away feeding the cattle. I had him drive to the road and start honking. The next week I ordered me a GPS. todd
longislandhunter
Re: I Got Lost! Thank You Garmin!!! I've used my Garmin GPS unit a number of times to get me back to my truck when I got "turned around" in a new hunting area. It's a wonderful feeling to bust out of the brush and walk right into your truck, exactly where the GPS unit said it should be.
VtBowhunter
Re: I Got Lost! Thank You Garmin!!! I use my Garmin everytime I go out, even when hunting on the mountain I grew up on. You just never know what might happen and you might have to come out well after dark.

LOL! In the fall I can walk around there like I own it! Save your money then get one, if it saves you one time its worth it!
