buckee
Re: oh no help please I get target panic sometimes too. Sometimes it's caused from over-shooting, and your body is getting tired, sometimes it's just an off day, and sometimes it's because you haven't taken the time to calm down a bit before shooting and between shooting sessions. If your first 6 to 12 shots were OK and then everything started going wonky on ya, then it's either time to call it quits for the day, or go sit down for 15 to 20 minutes and relax. Practise some slow, deep breathing exercises, while your relaxing. I try to relax, before every shot too. I'll stand there and look at the target, with my bow down, and take a couple of slow deep breaths. Then raise and draw. When fully drawn, take a slow deep breath....let some of it out real slow while getting on target....hold breath.....slowing float over target and release. I also like to psyche myself into pretending the target is a deer standing there. That's one of the reasons 3D shooting is so much fun. If you were shooting great when you started and it just keeps getting worse...call it quits for the day
GWSmith
Re: oh no help please Remove the target...what i mean to say is shoot at a blank area on a target or a target covered with the same color paper. some people reccomend shooting at a blank haybale or something similar. One method I have heard of is taking the actual piece of paper that the target is made out of and placing it inside your shoes. It is said to give you a mental power over the power of the target by being able to walk on it. That after time goes by you will lose the memory of the paper being in your shoe and become "Used to it being there"...therefore rendering the target completely powerless. LOL...while I was just making that up I thought...HMMMMM Could work too!!!

MCH
Re: oh no help please Step up to about 10 yards from your target. Draw and place the pin like you were going to hit the center of the target. Now.....close your eyes. Squeeze the trigger. Repeat. Another technique is to write down the steps in your shot process..ie..secure footing about a foot apart / bow hand pointing at target / breath in while drawing and keeping bow pointed in vicinity of target...etc. Everytime you shoot, go through this process. Knowing that you are doing everything correctly will give you more confidence. Also, like Buckee said, control your breathing. Breathe in while drawing and then try to exhale about 3/4's to 1/2 of that breath. Good luck, bud.
