Perseverance pays off

Well, I finally connected after what has been a rather frustrating season. I have a piece of property that borders Forest Service here in northwest Montana and there is a good population of turkeys in the area and at least a dozen different gobblers. After six days of hunting (spaced over the last month) and probably sixty different setups I finally had a gobbler come within range. I was on the 8th setup of the day and after setting up a couple of decoys and 20 minutes of calling a hen strolled in followed by a gobbler. He saw me shift my Remington 870 ultra mag, but at 15 yards he was as good as in the oven. Not a real big bird, 18 lbs, 8 inch beard and half inch spurs, but a fitting end to an enjoyable season. I did not have a camera with me at the camper but just after I finished skinning him out my wife and son along with my sons girlfriend showed up and the girlfriend had her camera and took a couple of pictures.
