Chrud
Re: Tricked out Switchback. [ QUOTE ] With ALL of the problems that the SwitchBack has had with wheel lean and tuning issues...... this is the only way to go! [/ QUOTE ] I had no problems. Is the Switchback a problem just waiting to happen?
Guest antlers21
Re: Tricked out Switchback. I think the only problems they have had is due to set up problems. Idler wheel lean when at full draw but that is still part of set up just like two cam bows have to be timed. The switchback is a great bow except with the strings which I have not liked zebra, tiger, or barracuda and have had custom strings put on all my bows. Crackers is just trying something and if it works great than good for me. I have total confidence in him no matter what he does.

But, this is the second time I've read a post by Cornfed that talked about "all" the "problems" with the Switchback. Just kind of wondering if he thinks it is a problem waiting to happen. WHISKEYSWAMP
Re: Tricked out Switchback. Let us know how it shoots... my outback is due for new cable and strings and I may just send it to him. Does the floating yoke work on the outback...

It should add about 6 FPS.
VermontHunter
Re: Tricked out Switchback. WOW....that string setup looks very similar to my Alpine Fatal Impact factory setup......and as for the Zebra String that is what came factory on my Alpine and I've had exactly ZERO problems with it..... Here's a couple of pics of the setup Alpine uses.. Hope the modification works out for ya.....
Guest antlers21
Re: Tricked out Switchback. Yep, same floating yoke system as yours and others. It is nothing new, some people have been doing this for 15 years. I dont even think it is making the switchback any better but it is different and i am willing to try anything once. If it works as good as factory...good, it it works better than factory....great! It cant hurt to try new things. I dont believe all zebra are just junk but the outback, legacy, q2, switchback is what I had bad luck with. Mostly severe stretch with zebra and tiger was the best for me, barracuda the serving on the cam was coming apart after 50 shots. I was not happy so custom strings again. VermontHunter
Re: Tricked out Switchback. [ QUOTE ] It cant hurt to try new things. [/ QUOTE ] You said it all right there......and if it makes you feel more comfortable with your Bow why not..... As for the string...I think if mine started to come apart after 50 shots I would also be alittle irate....When it comes time to change my string I think I might try the Winners Choice that everyone else has raved about... The main thing is that you need to be happy and comfortable with your setup or whats the point....and when it makes it's return home to ya I hope that thing is as true as you can make a Bow be... Guest Buck Magnet 007
Re: Tricked out Switchback. I can attest to what Cornfed said. My sisters boyfriend and his buddy both bought Switchbacks this year and have had some serious problems. Out of these two bows, here is a list of what went wrong, serving seperation, grips falling off, burr on the cam, string started breaking, cam lean, and finally, a warped cam. Now, with that said, after they both got all the kinks worked out, they started shooting these bows and fell in love! As far as Zebra strings go, I personally don't trust them. I have heard too many horror stories about string stretch. I will stick with Stone Mt, Vapor Trail, or the best of the best..... Winners Choice! I'll probably take it down to the pro shop I bought the bow from and see what he has to say. this is my first bow so I know little about setting these thing up. Guest antlers21
Re: Tricked out Switchback. Buck magnet remember the cam will lean at rest which is normal and then straighten out at draw unless the switchback has a floating yoke like the new strings will be then you have no cam lean. But cam lean in normal for the switchback with split yoke.
Guest Buck Magnet 007
Re: Tricked out Switchback. antlers21, The cam lean was constant, even at full draw. This lead them to some serious tuning issues. A few twists in the cable straightened it out and got the bow where it needed to be!
