Long Range Shooting

I don't believe I've posted in this room before, but I have some pictures I'd like to share. I took the day off of work Friday so that I could go shoot some long distances with a guy that works with me. He does it every weekend. They practice on Friday and have a match on Saturday. I didn't enter the match, figured I'd get some more practice shooting that far before I try to compete. Anyway, the guy I work with, Alan, supplied all the guns and even loaded some rounds for me to shoot. He helped me with adjustments from one distance to the next, also.

We shot three different guns (.223, .243, and .308) from 600, 800, 900, and 1000 yards. The .243 was, by far, the most accurate, with the .308 being least accurate. Here are my targets from the various yardages. I think I did alright for my first time shooting those distances. I think the farthest I had ever shot before Friday was about 200 yards.

Here's the .243 at 600 yards.

Here's what the targets looked like from the bench.

Re: Long Range Shooting

Great shooting for the set up and it is alot of fun. Makes you feel good to know you can hit something that far.

BTW, something that I use to help me, I got a waterproof sock and put rice in it then sowed it up. Put this under the grip and use your off hand to grip the sock. Tight and it will lower the site, relax it and it will rase the site. Just something the Army showed me years ago.
