Rut-Nut
Can anybody help me? There was a story of a huge brown bear shot up in Alaska by an airman who was Deer hunting. Evidently after months of circulating on the internet, it went from like 1200 to 1600 lbs, 9 to 14 feet and the guy was no longer an airman, he was a Forest ranger who shot it in self defense after it charged. THe STORY went that it could not be considered for a record since it was not shot in season. Well, I'm trying to track down the (true) story which appeared in one of the "major" hunting magazines (along with the story of how it got blown out of proportion on the internet). ANy help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Guest Phaseolus (BeanMan)
Re: Huge Bear story- couple years ago The last time someone sent that pic to me they also included one of a partially eaten human that the bear was supposed to have killed and fed on. Internet stuff seems to have a life of it's own. Phaseolus
Rut-Nut
Re: Huge Bear story- couple years ago Thanks Harv, That Alaska.com article really clears it up. It's amamzing that it's been over 3 years, and the exaggerated story still lives on! I have gotten 2 e-mails from well-intentioned, but mis-informed friends who thought the exaggerated story was true. Just trying to keep the story straight and dispell the rumors! Thanks for the info!
