Re: Best choice for a Coyote Scope?

I just bought a Leupold VXIII 3.5X10X40 for my new 243 WSSM. I really like the optics and the price is more than reasonable.

Re: Best choice for a Coyote Scope?

I bought a cheap 6X24X42 for my 250 but I had been useing a 3X9X40. The 3X9X40 is actually fine for me but I got the itch for a new toy. Most shots at yotes are 250 or less and I'd say the average is 200. I think it really depends on what terrain you hunt and what you want to spend. 3X9X40 was more than enough for me for many years.

I would have to say there is no perfect scope for hunting coyotes, or any game for that matter. Coyotes are found everywhere and the landscape changes so much. I shoot a 3x10 Simmons. It works just fine for me. I have never shot a yote over 200 yards. They are mostly under 100yards. When hunting with a friend I usually take the shotgun with the #4 buck and let them take the long shots.

Any 3x scope should work, unless you plan on taking them at 300+ yards.
