Guest DaveGP
i hunt deer in ohio and now ky. i was thinking of getting a new rifle but on the land we will hunt there wont be any shots over 100 yards at max... most likely a lot shorter. i have my optima mz and i was thinking of getting a revolver to hunt with... most cowboy action guns have fixed sights. dont laugh, lol, has anyone ever hunted with one of these? like in 45lc or 44 mag? dave
spyderpancake
Re: does anyone do this? I have a Ruger Vaquero .45 LC with 6" barrel. I have taken it hunting, but haven't gotten a chance to shoot any deer with it yet. It is definitely capable of killing a deer out to at least 50 yards with iron sights. Usually with the fixed sights, you grind them off and/or bend them to the point of impact of the round you will be shooting.
