bowhunt101
Hey yall. I know I am new here and havnt posted much but I have got a problem with my bow I think. I shoot a Fred Bear Whitetail Edition (old I know) and it shoots good, well up until today. Last weekend I took it and had new string, cables, and all that good stuff put on there so I could begin practicing for the new bow season this year and I have been shooting good with it lately and I mean having arrows touching on most if not all shots at 20-30 yards. I have been meaning to move out to longer range but for now just shooting 20. Well I went out to shoot today and none of my shots where on. I even lost the rest of my practice arrows. I shot all afternoon when it wasnt raining. Please keep in mind I am shooting bails of hay but this was ridiculous, I have never shot this bad. My arrows where all over the hay and only a couple of times got a consistent group and even a few missed the target completley (shot over it). Dont know whats goin on here so could somebody please help me out here? Thanks alot in advance and any advice will be appreciated cus Im goin crazy over here.-tim
6sixpoint_nobrows
Re: problem with bow.... there could be many differant things going wrong...first...are you positive you are shooting 20 yards or 30 yards, because that could be throwing you off..also you might have bumped your sight pins putting your bow up, i know i have bumped mine before not knowing it and the next day i shot terrible, if so then re-sight in your pins. good luck and i hope this helps you
VermontHunter
Re: problem with bow.... It could be many things, but to name a few, you mentioned that the string and cables ae new, so this could mean that your string has stretched abit, changing your anchor point. Another could be your sight has been bumped and needs to be resighted, or you have slightly altered your stance changing your aiming point. Like I said a few factors could cause this, be sure to check your bow if you haven't already for anything that may be loose....Sorry that I couldn't be more specific but Archery is a fine line of being dead-on or big time off....Hope you solve the problem....good luck
bowhunt101
Re: problem with bow.... Hey yall. I just got about the same replys on another forum so I appreciate your help all the same. I have not had chance to check my bow over good yet but I will first thing tommorow. I havnt changed my stance or anchor point to my knowledge so I will try to resight my pins asap. GWSmith
Re: problem with bow.... I would check the arrow rest first, the nock point second, and then the sight pin(s) last in that order. Make sure the rest screws are tight and that its operating as it should. Then check to see if maybe your nock point has changed position somehow either up or down. Then start again using only one pin to sight in with at 20 yards. Drop the 30 yard pin down completely if you have one and get it out of the way...you can always bring it back up after your sure that everything is working right and you can hit at 20 yds first. bulldawg
Re: problem with bow.... Did you put your peep back in the same place? What about your knock point? Just 2 things to check also. Tom
muggs
Re: problem with bow.... sounds like your peep sight was sliding on you, check your knots and see if you can move them.
