HeviShot
Do you think a mechanical has to be shot at a faster speed to perform correctly?I currently shoot mechanical at targets because they fly well.My bow is not super fast should I shoot regular fixed? MCH
Re: Question? Define super fast?? Speed is fine, but its things like kinetic energy and momentum that determine how well your mechanicals will operate. If your shooting 260 fps and your arrow is fishtailing and porpoising the mechanicals aren't going to operate as well as on a well tuned bow traveling 230. But hey, Native Americans used to kill deer with basically two sticks, a string, and a sharp stone. Maybe someone else knows some hard facts, but personally, I wouldn't shoot mechanicals with anything less than 200 fps.
HeviShot
Re: Question? Superfast is like a Matthews or HOYT with a 70# draw weight.I don't know how fast my bow is.At 25 yards when I release, the arrow seems hits the target right when I hear the string fall.If that makes any sense. Guest antlers21
Re: Question? If you have good arrow flight and you make a good shot then mechanicals will work just fine. I dont give a @@@@ what broadhead you use the key is making a good shot.
JimT
Re: Question? No. I have read that a real fast bow is not good for shooting mechs because the blades can open prematuraly on some models. Makes sense to me. It does not take much to open a mech head at all. Your all set.
GWSmith
Re: Question? I agree Jim...I was having some erratic arrow flight problems with my mech's awhile ago. I found out, ironically from reading the package, that if my bow was shooting in excess of 250 FPS they reccomended using another rubber band to prevent premature opening...worked great.
