bowhunt101
Hey yall. I am lookin to buy a new bow to replace my Fred Bear Whitetail Edition just because my bow is so old and out of date compared to the new ones. I want somethin I can shoot and depend on for years to come, I mean nuthin wrong with the Bear just want somethin a lil more up to date. Just lookin for some ideas so here we go.... I will be spending somewhere around 800 dollars on a good bow set up. I also wanna buy some open layered targets and top notch arrows and broadheads for this thing because if Im gunna have a good bow I want good equipment to go with it know what I mean? But Ill just start with the bow question and go from there. I dont wanna spend the full 800 dollars on the bow because of the other equipment I want to go with it. I was lookin at the Bass Pro Shops Bow Packages. The have names such as Parker, PSE, Reflex, Fred Bear, and other such packages listed on their website. All of these packages are so that you can just pick one up and it immediatley has all the basics you need to start shooting as far as I know. I have heard Parker Bows are almost as good as Mathews but dont know about that. Another one that caught my eye was PSE. Looks like a couple of their models have parrelell limbs similar to the switchback. I know Reflex is made by Hoyt and I know fred bear is dependable so what do yall think? Gimma what ya think and Ill reply my first chance I get. What do yall think about a Bass Pro Bow package? Yall takemeasy and have a goodun.-tim
dogdoc
Re: good bow? whatya think? If you got 800 bucks i'd go to a pro-shop and shoot a bunch of the ones in your price range then make your choice. all the names you mentioned makes great bows. Be sure to shoot the AR-34 (Owned by PSE). todd
tedicast
Re: good bow? whatya think? Another option is to look at used bows your archery shop has for sale... You wouldn't believe how many people buy a new bow every year, and either trade in or sell on consignment last years bow. You can get a top of the line bow, for a portion of the price it was brand new. just an option.

MadHuntinPastor
Re: good bow? whatya think? Is the $800 on the bow itself or will you need to save some of that for setting the bow up with gear??? I love my Reflex Gamegetter. Agree with above that if it fits and you like the way it shoots you will love it no matter how much it cost or what name is on the limb!!!!! They gave me the same advise last year! Narrowed it down the the AR-34 and the Parker Outfitter 34. Parker won, only because the good deal I got! Good luck! Rut-Nut
Re: good bow? whatya think? [ QUOTE ] Just because you buy the most expensive bow on the market dont mean you will like it or it will make you shot better than everyone else, because youre bow cost 800.00 and every one else bow cost 500.00,400.00,300.00. [/ QUOTE ] How true!!!!! When I took my bowhunter safety course, there were guys with $500, $750,$1000 and one guy had a $1200 bow. Well, he was braggin' for a day and a half how good his bow was and how much it cost!!!! Well, the last part of the course was a 3D shoot in hunting situations- you should have seen his face when I out-shot him with my old entry-level bow that cost less than his arrows!!!! Guest antlers21
Re: good bow? whatya think? Dont order one from a magazine or online until you have shot the model. You will be amazed at how different the bows feel. I bought a hoyt razortec a few years back because it looked cool and I couldn't get used to the small, narrow grip. Great bow but didn't fit my shooting style. Just a heads up!
