birddog
Hey guys: Ever since coming here, I have been a teacher! When I joined the site, I was teaching, I shared many memories of teaching here, etc. Well....I changed professions this past year, and I really love my new job...You wouldn't believe how stress free it is compared to teaching! No worries, or who is mad at who, parents calling, etc. HOWEVER...as I see the end of the school year coming to an end...let me say...I know remember why I taught! Let me tell you, 3 more months, and I may be begging for my teaching job back! For all of you teachers, and students....enjoy your summer vacation! I'll miss it dearly! It snowed 365 days of the year and we had to walk uphill, 10 miles to school, and uphill 10 miles home, in 5 feet of snow. To top it off we had to collect coal or chop firewood on the way too school and collect it on the way home, so Mom could cook supper. And it wasn't easy finding that fuel for the fire in 5 ft of snow either eh.

I walked 10 miles to school, uphill both ways in 6ft of snow with 12 ft drifts, 365 days a year and not only collect the fuel and build the fire but cook and do the dishes afterwards too!!! You had it easy man! Oh and if any of you believe that, I have a piece of ocean-front property in Arizona I need to sell. PM me for a price quote and description! (all sales final) My Mom is the best cook Ive ever met...outside of a realy good restauraunt and they can't feed a family of 6 in the mid 80s for $20 a week and still keep that title...(that is true)
wtnhunt
Re: Feeling rough! Summer vacation here runs late May until early August. Being able to have the summer off to be home with the kids would sure have its advantages.

birddog
Re: Feeling rough! TG- I taught for 6 years, and am now working as a "bacteriologist" for the health dept. Dont' let the title fool you....I just test water :-) Stress free compared to the teaching days!
GWSmith
Re: Feeling rough! Birddog, Fundamentally there are two serious problems with teachers pay and summer vacations. Summer Vacations never began at the start of hunting seasons...and the pay never starts!!!
