Turkeygirl
Hey fellow NY hunters...what are the turkeys doing right now or how is the hunting going? I haven't been out in the woods for days because of pre-calculus. I was going to go out this morning but kind of slept in and tonight I promise I am going out to roost some turkeys if I'm lucky but I'm wondering what the turkeys are doing? Are they quiet or what's going on at this time and how should I approach them? We may get some rain which I hope on because that is about my best chance of seeing any turkeys in the fields. Good luck to everyone in the last few days

maytom
Re: What\'s happening in NY With out a doubt, this was the "WORST" spring season here in NY since I've been seriously hunting for mature toms back in 1992!!!!! I never had a gobbler in my scope the entire month!! Decided to go out this morning, but it started raining out!!! Tomorrow the fat lady sings!!! Turkeygirl
Re: What\'s happening in NY I didn't go out at all, I slept in the keep up the energy. Actually if it starts pouring out,, I'll go out by the fields, otherwise tomorrow ism y last chance. I ditto you on being the worst season since I've been hunting! There are a few fixes that need to be shot because they take our chickens and that will help the turkey population also. There is alot of foxes/coyotes here that need to be done in! Or the DEC need to take another look at the turkey population NY state
RangerClay
Re: What\'s happening in NY No birds for me. Way too much hen competition this year for me. Every bird I've started to call in would get side tracked by the real thing. Ranger

Squirrelhunter91
Re: What\'s happening in NY Saturday morning, we called up two very hot toms, but got impatient and spooked them off by accident. Sunday, I called in a jake and a hen, but I had my pellet gun b/c I was chipmunk hunting. Monday, didn't hear a thing.
Turkeygirl
Re: What\'s happening in NY I saw a few hens this season and like you TP, plan to put my sites on one of them this fall! The only gobbler I heard and saw the entire season was 2 weekends before the opener....
