After having to recover from a flat caused by the track conditions he also had to recover from front end damge caused by the track,,,,good thing for him he has a great pitcrew and car,,,,he has recovered to be in third place from 25th...with 182 laps to go... WHAT A DRIVER AND TEAM.....GO #24,,,,,,,,,

MichiganHuntr1
Re: Coca-Cola 600 and Gordon I agree with Matt, Vickers was a little to eager to get up to the front. I like their interview with him. He was like "what happened". LMAO Of Course the dumb butt knows what happened. He got into the back of Elliot. Vickers made me a little angry tonight, as most of you can probably tell. Gordon can survive a flat, a track breaking and hitting him, again, but a teammate takes him out.....sheesh. I like the comparison, A BIG Bristol.
IowaDeerHunter
Re: Coca-Cola 600 and Gordon A VERY big bristol. i guess from what I seen it was a wreck-fest, or just more debris cautions! To bad Labonte couldn't pull off a win, SOOO close.
Chrud
Re: Coca-Cola 600 and Gordon There was also a 21 car difference between a blocking wreck and a trying to pass wreck. I'm gonna agree with TT too, seemed like Vickers was ready to turn on the Hendrick "it was the other guy's fault" explaination. Didn't expect to get the wreck showed to him either. Elliott got loose of backed off. Please.
Chrud
Re: Coca-Cola 600 and Gordon Thought about it this morning....concrete at Martinsville, crack sealer at Charlotte... I bet a brick comes up and Gordon hits it at Indy.
MichiganHuntr1
Re: Coca-Cola 600 and Gordon Matt, if that happened, I think I would probably cry. Ive never heard of a track falling apart and punching a hole in a car twice.

snapper
Re: Coca-Cola 600 and Gordon I think the other drivers are just good enough to avoid hitting that crap! I know alot of the drivers didn't care for the new surface...but this was the best coca-cola 600 I've seen in awhile. I've been going to this race for 8 years now and this year wasn't as boring as the past. I'm not a Jimmy Johnson fan...but hats off to him for a awesome display of driving! What really burned my butt was all the "drunk rednecks" throwing beer cans out on the track at JJ during his burnout and victory lap! [/ QUOTE ] I guess we like completely different kinds of races. That was pitiful. The drivers couldn't even keep the cars on the track when they were driving by themselves, how were they supposed to race each other? I for one do not like a lot of cautions, especially at superspeedways like Lowes. With all those wrecks, someone was bound to get hurt, like Terry Labonte. I'm glad it wasn't worse. Humpy Wheeler destroyed a great racetrack. It will take a lot of work to get it back right. Faster does not make better racing.
snapper
Re: Coca-Cola 600 and Gordon [ QUOTE ] especially at superspeedways like Lowes. [/ QUOTE ] Lowes isn't considered a superspeedway. [ QUOTE ] I guess we like completely different kinds of races. That was pitiful. [/ QUOTE ] Wow, I seen alot of 2 and 3 wide racing...many lead changes and more than half the field finish on the lead lap. I guess watching on tv and being there are two different races. I didn't say "faster" was better...but this year's 600 was much better than the past years and WAY better than a restrictor plate race. These guys take a chance of getting hurt at every track...they are the ones driving the cars...its up to them to control them. Can't blame Wheeler for the wrecks...the driver push the cars as hard or as little as they want. I'll take 2-3 wide, passing and lead changes any day...wrecking is part of racing! Besides, what do you consider "alot" of wrecks? This race is 600 miles (longest race on the schedule) and there (I think) 21 or 22 cautions...and a few of them were for debris. texastrophies
Re: Coca-Cola 600 and Gordon Did you go this year, Snapper? I thought the racing part of the race was good, just to many cautions & caution laps made for a real long (time wise) race.
snapper
Re: Coca-Cola 600 and Gordon Yeah...last year was the only race in the past 8 years I didn't go. The race was over about the same time it always is...its a loooong race.
VABuckSlayer
Re: Coca-Cola 600 and Gordon How are the fans at the track Snapper? At Richmond we had a drunk whip it out and start peeing on the crowd in front of him. Few fights in the stands... are they any better at Charlotte? snapper
Re: Coca-Cola 600 and Gordon I've never seen a fight, never seen someone going to the bathroom , only complaint was this past race with the "drunk rednecks" throwing cans and bottles over the fence at the 48 car. I don't think that one guy represents "the fans" by any means. I've been to quite a few different tracks and races and the baseball games I go to are a lot worse as far as fan behavior. Richmond is the cleanest and nicest track I've been to and I'm looking forward to September! I usually go in May, but the trucks are there in the Fall so I'm really looking forward to it.
