Bond
How long do yours last? How do you tell when they need replacing? Mine are 2 years old, I don't want them to bust in the middle of season, well I don't want them to bust in my hands at all.... Thanks
dogdoc
Re: How do you know when strings need replacing? I think a lot of it depends on how often you shoot and how well you take care of your string. I probably wax more than needed---I sold my very first bow last year--it was 10 years old and still had the original string--it looked brand new. If your starting to see a little fraying then I would definitely get it replace. todd
Guest bigbuckmiddaugh
Re: How do you know when strings need replacing? Even if your string shows no wear, after couple years, your bow will loose speed cause of string stretch on the buss cables. I've replaced some strings on some bows, they gained 30fps back. Guest antlers21
Re: How do you know when strings need replacing? signs of wear means time to replace or I replace for sure every three years.
VTbowman
Re: How do you know when strings need replacing? 2 to 3 years is a good time frame for a regular backyard summer shooter. Now if you shoot year round, indoor, 3D, etc... then maybe every year to year and a half. I changed mine after 3 years but I dont shoot as often, only spring and summer evening in the yard and then whatever shots I take during bow season. Keeping the grit off it is the key to long string life and keeping it waxed does wonders. However a waxed string can hide fraying strands so be carefull.
