tedicast
Just found this quote from Tony Eury Sr. on Jayski.com . Don't want to be sitting in on the next team meeting!!!...lol from Jayski's.... Eury Sr. not happy with Dale Jr. There were a record 22 cautions (one turned into red) during the Coca-Cola 600 last Sunday. One flew after Dale Earnhardt Jr. tagged teammate Michael Waltrip from behind. Tony Eury Sr., Dale Earnhardt Inc.'s director of competition, was not happy. Clearly. "I don't know what his (Junior's) problem is with Michael," Eury said, "but it will be fixed tomorrow--I guarantee it. He acts like he's friends with him, but every time he gets near him on the racetrack, he ends up wrecking him. DEI has enough problems. We don't need that."(Sporting News)(5-30-2005)
Chrud
Re: It\'s Gonna Be a Quiet Day at DEI! Huh? That is the first time I've ever seen Dale Jr cause Waltrip to wreck. The more I've read the more I think the problem at DEI is family. Everyone there is a family member or a family friend of the Earnhardts. They need to get the best person for the job, not necessarily the closest friend. Guess who the front runner is for Dale Jr's Crew Cheif...Jimmy Elledge. He's married to Kelley Earnhardt. tedicast
Re: It\'s Gonna Be a Quiet Day at DEI! Chrud... You make a very good point about the family structure at DEI. I think Eldridge understands that too. Here is a quote from Eldridge. This is copied from Jayski.com.... But the same family conflicts that many blamed for the split between Earnhardt and his uncle and long-time crew chief, Tony Eury Sr., would be an issue again because Elledge is married to Kelley Earnhardt, Dale Jr.'s sister. "It can be a good thing, but I could have brother-in-law, my mother-in-law and my wife all mad at me at the same time," Elledge said

Gator
Re: It\'s Gonna Be a Quiet Day at DEI! I'd love to be a fly on the wall at DEI today!! slugshooter
Re: It\'s Gonna Be a Quiet Day at DEI! I don't know why everyone says that there are problems within the team when teammates get together. Maybe there are, but when you have multiple cars they are bound to get together at some point. I remember Eury Sr. last year getting pissed off at Mikey for not pushing Junior around the track so Junior could win, when the name of the game is to win the race, and the last couple of laps, teammates takes a back seat to crossing the line first. [/ QUOTE ] I suppose if you were Bobby Labonte...mired in 31st in points, and came that close to winning the race, you would have got out of the car smiling. I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!! Bobby is probably one of the nicest guys in the Cup series. You never see him on the middle of any of the controversies that some other drivers that are well liked here find themselves in. When your driver wins a championship, you can put him at the same level as Bobby Labonte. Your" baby of the night", comment about him was the most uncalled for remark about last nights race. He definately didn't deserve that.
slugshooter
Re: It\'s Gonna Be a Quiet Day at DEI! Being a big time Gordon and Hendrick fan I was rooting for Bobby to win at the end last night, 1.) Because he hasn't won in awhile and a class act and 2.) I like him better than I like Jimmy Johnson. I always told myself that if something happened and I stopped rooting for Gordon, Bobby Labonte was the next in line.

Chrud
Re: It\'s Gonna Be a Quiet Day at DEI! [ QUOTE ] "baby of the nite" [/ QUOTE ] Who? Deldeer? Thought this was the youth room for a minute. It's good to see Dustin and Sluggo have some respect. It's one thing to show you are upset with a driver, it's another when you display it like a 2 year old. Still don't see any comparasion to Junior's wreck and JJ's WRECKS. Junior took responsibility and took out only 4 cars...he's been responsible for 6 cars this year. JJ is "responsible" for almost 40 cars.

Anyhow about last night. the first thought that came to my mind when JR wrecked Waltrip was, does Nascar do drug testing ? Not accussing Jr of doing drugs or having too many Bud's before the race , but when something like that happens for no resason what so ever, one must ask. spyderpancake
Re: It\'s Gonna Be a Quiet Day at DEI! RTF, where in the world did you come up with that? Why is everybody beating on Junior so hard, but nobody is talking about the Hendrick driver (25) who had a car capable of winning but made a stupid move that took out himself, his TEAMMATE Gordon, and several other cars? He must be on drugs too.
Nick
Re: It\'s Gonna Be a Quiet Day at DEI! Sorry deldeer, but i dont think ANY JJ fans have any room to be talking about Earnhardt. I think your boy JJ was the one who took out more than half the field on two different occasions at Talladega. Maybe Gordon should find somebody who knows how to race maturely instead of wrecklessly to take over that 48 car.
PAbowhunter4life
Re: It\'s Gonna Be a Quiet Day at DEI! Jr. is a HEAD CASE who's ego has outgrown him. Had success last year, still living off the Earnhardt name, he figured he could basically do what he wants and how he wants. Unfortunately for him people won't take his crap, so everyone leaves him, but to save face and the Earnhardt name, they say these people were "let go". He needs to get his head on straight, realize that no one's going to respect him cause of who his father was, and he needs to get back to the success he had last year. If not, it's gonna be a looooong donward spiral for DEI. Just for the record, I don't have a favorite driver, I just call it like I see it, so this isn't an anti Earnhardt post from a Gordon fan or anything along those lines. I believe that Jr. has all the potential in the world, and he proved it last year, he just needs to grow up a bit and realize that it took alot more than just him to have success
