Did you know Springfield produces brand new Garands now? Yup , didnt believe it until I went to their website. They've added the gun in a .308 too! Check it out! http://www.springfield-armory.com/prod-rifles-m1-garand.shtml

Talk about sticker shock though.($1348 for the '06)...thats why I say I can't justify one yet...

An old Springfield '03 Sniper Rifle would be a nice one to own too. I have never seen one for sale around here though.

I have an Uncle who is a huge military rifle buff. He has one of the new Springfields with the Match barrel. Now he wants one of the National Match editions, but that runs close to $2k. I have shot his, it is very well-made and accurate. I have a 1939 Mosin Nagant 91/30 that is in extremely good shape. I have shot 5-shot groups under 1 1/2" with it at 100 yards with open sights. My two brothers have Mosin's too.I also have a 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser that i deer hunt with that is incredibly accurate. And i just got an 03-A3 Spingfield that was rechambered from 30-06 to .308 Norma Magnum. And we have 3 British Enfield .303s. I love old war guns. They have a lot of history, and with a little bit of work, most of them will flat-out shoot!

Yep...those old mosin nagants are cool old rifles too! There is this little old town near Branson , MO where an old guy has just loads and loads of old British and Russian WWII stuff. I bet you I spent a couple hours just in there browsing through his old stuff. I love the history in them , especially when you hold one in your hands.

Well I have a original 303 British rifle and my son has a 98K 8mm (8x57) Mauser. These are some really nice guns to hunt with, but are heavy.
