Hey all...My update..Not too good.

Hello all,

I know it has been a while since I have been on but things have not been going so well. Since my surgery I had about a month where I progresses well and everything seemed like it was going to be fantastic. You all knew I was hurt on the job, had to have a total of 6 vertebrates fused (3 in my lower back and 3 in my neck). It WAS an on-the-job accident “Workers Comp.” and all. The day after Christmas, 2 months after surgery, I got a termination letter from my employer ..policy, you know, Mr. Sauceman. We had to sell our house ahead of what may take place with workers comp (have already delayed one set of payments 16 TOTAL weeks (4 months of pay) and another for 4 weeks (another month of pay). Seems they can do whatever they want and it does not matter.

I have been slowly selling my personal things off on EBay. Check out some of the things I have there now (nsauceman). I still have a Marlin 30-30 and a Browning BAR 300 Win Mag. I need to sell “but not give away” please.

Well, things started to slide backwards after that. My pain started to worsen; my body was doing some weird things (jerking like when you sleep except all day and all night long (100 – 200 times a day)). My leg pain in both legs from the waist down was getting intense and my pain medications did nothing. I was sent to a pain management doctor and he started me on a pain patch which started doing some good but then went backwards too. I am now on a large pain patch and my regular pain medication 3 times a day.

Today I go in for my 7-month post-op appointment and the doctors don’t look too pleased and are worried. I now have to have another CAT scat ( not too worried about that) to see if there may be a possibility for another surgery (now that worries me), then they may look at blocking a nerve or two in my hips (worry) and to beat all, they just said I can not drive myself anymore until they figure out what is making my muscles jerk like they are doing.

I don’t eat, I have lost 40 pounds so far (and I am quite handsome now thank you) because I don’t eat. Maybe I could sell a book on my weight loss. Do you think it would sell? I have missed the last two hunting seasons (2 years) and that is bad enough. I can’t go hunting by myself (can’t drive) and they said if I fell and no one was there to help me (would I make a sound? Hehe) I could have a difficult time if I re-injured myself in the woods.

Now I have to be driven around. My son will have to drive me to therapy twice a week and anywhere else I have to go. And anything else I want, it is just too bad or I have to call a cab to take me from A to B.

Please pray for me. Please pray for my family and please pray for the DHNA. I am unable to run around right now. Unable to stay cognizant enough to barely carry on a conversation yet alone remember what was said to me 5 minutes ago. I told the doctor that I now know why some folks killed themselves years ago when they hurt their backs like I did. To many, this would be way too much to bear. If I did not have my faith and a great family , I just don’t know what I would do.

Love you folks, I miss chatting with you all. Sometimes I get on and troll but I refrain posting anything for assurance I don’t say anything drug induced and get booted off. So I don’t try. Call me or write or email me any time. I try to get to my computer at least once a day but often times it is several days before I can get back out of bed to check on things. I just wanted to give you all an update on what has been going on.

Re: Hey all...My update..Not too good.

Man I am so very sorry to hear about all this. I knew alot was going on with you and your back, but I didn't know about you losing your job and all that.

It amazes me what companies get away with. IMO they should be made to stand behind you 100% with this being an OJI......I know it doesn't happen that way, but it should.

Prayers are coming your way bud and if you need anything at all don't hesitate to ask.

God bless you and your family!

Josh

I pray that things turn around for you and your family. My dad hurt his back on the job (not as bad as yours, but still required lots of surgery). He is 6'4" and had to crawl to the bathroom and had to lay down on the floor when going to doctor's appointments and worker's comp still said he wasn't hurt! I hope you find a good worker in that system that will stop jerking you around!

Re: Hey all...My update..Not too good.

Sorry to hear about your problems, Norm. Back surgery is tricky business and something I would definitely avoid if possible.

Unfortunately, you may have to sue the employer...you know if they fire ya it kind of eliminates the "my employer is working with me so I would hate to levy a lawsuit against them" sentiment. You gotta look out for number one, you know?

Get back on your feet soon, and I will be praying for you and your family until then.

Re: Hey all...My update..Not too good.

I feel so completely helpless on these forums sometimes, and this is one of those times Norm.

I'll try to get that old camera out to you soon bud if you still want it. There's an old tape in it still that I'd like to get out, but the door seems to be jammed. Maybe I'll just send it out, and when you fix it, maybe you can mail the tape back to me.

Hang in there bud.

Saying a special prayer for you Norm. My father had the the discs in his neck fused a few years ago. Still hasn't helped. Although he has faith in God, it got to a point where he was in so much pain one night that he said if he could've gotten to his gun, he would have used it.

That is so unlike my Dad. But pain makes you do and say crazy things. Pain management doesn't help either. He can't go fishing like he used to either. It is really sad.

Hope things turn around for you. I think I'd be seeking a lawyer though and sue the pants off your employer.

Re: Hey all...My update..Not too good.

Sorry to hear all that Norm.

The secratary at my previous Job had a lot of problems with her back including several surgeries and permanant nerve damage due to an OJI. Her employer did about the same thing to her and she is still fighting them now over 7 years later. Do yourself a favor and get a lawyer quick, it can make the diference between an anoying fight and an impossible one.

Will Keep ya in our prayers! Keep the faith!
