I have been drooling over the new .204 Ruger since i first saw the early articles on it. I recently noticed that I can buy a savage bolt action package deal for about $350 or $400. I am starting to save up for it but am curious if anyon has any experience with the 11fxp3 series in varmint callibers?

They are pretty nice guns out of the box. My experience with Savage is that they tend to be just as accurate, if not more, than some other expensive rifles. Gun Tests did a write up comparing it to two other major MFR's and I think the Savage came out ahead. Not sure if it was the 11 model though. May have been the 116.

The down side can be the cosmetics. I've heard people complain about the look of the synth stocks but form follows function, IMO.

One thing I think Savage has over the competition is the new accu-trigger which, IMO, is very sweet indeed. Far better than the factory grinding stones on many fresh out of the box rifles. They may not be for some traditionalists but I think they are great.

I own two Savages and I have a third, 300 RUM, on the way I like the way Savage performs and if it saves me 200-300 bucks, I end up even happier.
