HarvDog
Any recommendations for eliminating chipmunks in and around my property. The old guy next door continues to feed every bird and squirrel in the county and this has drawn chipmunks in as well. They are nothing but destructive. I really need to get rid of them since they have started to burrow until my porch and, I'm sure, other areas around my house.
Shaun_300
Re: Chipmunk Termination i just shoot the dang things, but it sounds like that would not be appreciated by your neighbour i'd try a rat trap (oversized mouse trap) with a peanut, or peanut butter on it, that should take care of him! as long as you don't get a neighbour's cat in there or something well i guess that wouldnt matter! j/k. HarvDog
Re: Chipmunk Termination The chipmunk swimming pool was somewhat effective last year for me. I haven't used it much this year yet. The swimming pool is a five gallon bucket half full of water with the surface covered in sunflower seeds (they float). There is a diving board that is a 1 by 6 board that has some seeds sprinkled on it. The chipmunk eats the seeds on the board gets to the end and dives into the sunflower seed. Unfortunately he can't swim.
Shaun_300
Re: Chipmunk Termination good idea! we use something that we call the "Newfie Mousetrap" here its a 5 gallon pail, filled with a water/degreaser or javex mix, there is a piece of wire that runs through a pop can, that is attached to the pail at the top. you put some peanut butter on the pop can, and there's small ramp that goes up to the top of the pail, anyways the mouse will go up, jump onto the pop can, which is like trying to do a log-roll, loses his balance and falls into the concoction! that's the end of the mouse we have also caught a couple chipmunks in the trap as well. Squirrelhunter91
Re: Chipmunk Termination I shoot them. Get yourself a pellet gun and start shooting them. Bait them away from his feeder towards you. When they show up, shoot them. They are pretty darn stupid, so if you miss once, chance are you will have a second oppurtunity to shoot. TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Chipmunk Termination I'm with you Harvey. Them little things are cluttering my back yard. Did you all know here in Massachusetts, they have a season on them little things. They are tearing up my yard and salt lick stations. I am soon going to plant some C-
RangerClay
Re: Chipmunk Termination Rat traps work real well. Havahart makes a small live trap that is available at most hardware stores. Ranger

Nick
Re: Chipmunk Termination I'd probably use a pellet rifle. Our cat also does a good job of keeping the population low around here.

Tominator
Re: Chipmunk Termination Mouse traps always did the trick for me, or an outside cat. Bait the traps with peanut butter, or sunflower seeds.
Palssonater
Re: Chipmunk Termination Yeah, I was going to suggest a Cat. They will clean those up in about 3 days, if you get a good mouser.

Getting ready to "dive" off the diving board. Catch some and send them to me. We don't see those very often down here.

Guest Phaseolus (BeanMan)
Re: Chipmunk Termination I've got a Jack Russel Terrier. Talk about a rodent exterminator. There is a tourist overlook on the Grand Mesa near here. The chipmunks get overfed and slow. If there are no tourists around I'll let Sparkey out and he always gets a few. He terminated a Marmot last weekend and it was bigger than him. BeanMan

They are making their way through my salt lick stations too. They are legal to shoot here too. I have my judo points ready to go.
