bowhunt101
Yall this may be a lenghty post so brace yourself lol. My bow is an older model Fred Bear Whitetail Edition Compound. I dont have much choice with bows because my uncle gave me this when he stopped bowhunting. I took it to a pro shop near here and he got me started with the basics. It was shooting good the first couple weeks and I had my arrows touching at 30 yards. Then my cables that go over the rollers started jumping off when you hit the release and Im guessing this is because they are not tight enough. Been thinking about getting it bumped up to 50lbs (currently 45lbs) when I go to get the cables tightened or whatever has to be done to them. There is really nothing majorly wrong with the bow I can see or my cousin at the pro shop could see really but I hate going hunting with halfway equipment and I have always been like that my whole life (used to be that way about fishing until I started bowhunting ). I want to put some new sights on the bow, a new quiver, a release loop, and all the stuff I need to have a good reliable bow to hunt with. I basically want to put everything that needs to be on there on there. What about a stabilizer, basically Im asking about how much is all this gunna cost me? Thanks in advanced and good hunting.-tim
muggs
Re: gettin my bow ready? a stabilizer's not a necessity, but it may help, try some out and see how you shoot. Some models will really cut down on vibration and noise after the shot. As for the cables, I'm not knowable enough to tell you what's wrong, but it's definitely something that needs to be fixed. You can have those replaced, talk to your pro shop.
colescott1
Re: gettin my bow ready? I just did basically the same thing last week. Converted from fingers to release, string loop, peep, whisker bisquit rest, Copper John site, shortened my draw, tuned, etc. $300. Takes some getting used to all the changes, but I'm already shooting better after 1 week then I had been for a couple years of fingers with a not so good setup. colescott1
Re: gettin my bow ready? Forgot to mention, that price also included a Rhino release, shortening 3 arrows I had in my case several inches and a half hour lesson on form using an indoor range.
