Guest lilcrackshot
Here in Kansas I only hunt the rifle season and that is November 29-December 11 and I was wondering what kinds of calls will work that time of year.
Guest gfourhunter
Re: Deer Calling in December a doe bleat is always good. as long as you keep does around you a buck has a better chance of comming your way.

buckee
Re: Deer Calling in December doe-in-heat bleat works well in Dec. Even though the major rut is over and done, there is still the secondary rut which takes place throughout the end of Nov., Dec. and sometimes even into Jan. There will still be bucks looking for does who have gone into estrus late. A doe-in-heat bleat combined with some good doe-in-heat scent, could just be the ticket your looking for. wtnhunt
Re: Deer Calling in December I use the grunt call with good results throughout the season. The can works pretty well here sometimes.
Guest TheDanishDanger
Re: Deer Calling in December yeah the calls you can use all year round. But i recently read in a magazine, and i was suprised at this cause i know it's extremely effective in pre-rut and rut, but rattlelin antlers are also encouraged durin the late season. I'm gon try it this year and see if it has any effects, but I just can't see how its encourage, it can't have the effect as it does in pre-rut and rut. guess i'll have to wait and find out this winter. wtnhunt
Re: Deer Calling in December Late season deer in soe areas will become very teritorial over food. I have also heard that rattling in the late season can be effective, but have not had any luck here with rattling in any mature bucks. too_pointer
Re: Deer Calling in December I use 2 different sizes of Primos " the can", also use a H.S. True Talker grunt tube. You can make very good doe bleats along with younger buck and fawns with these too_pointer
