Guest Finn
Is this affecting anyone else? 2 of the 3 bases I recruit for are listed to relocate south. This is killing my recruiting of Docs and nurses. Lost 4 applicants since May 14th due to this list. I don't blame them, as it would be tough to commute for Reserve weekends to NC or Tampa from Milwaukee and Detroit. It's OK for people who have a few more years in to swallow the cost knowing retirement is in sight, but new officers can't see that far down the road. TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Base Closures - BRAC Dude, I had a choice between recruiting and being a Drill Instructor....it obviously wans't recruiting That job sucks and I do not envy any recruiter With that said, as far as I am concerned, I could really care less. I know I am not out of a job and of course either are you Finn. I get sick of hearing these communities complaining about the military so I say pack up and move. I support the list. Obviously there is a reason for it. If it takes closing the "Not needed" bases to make some of these more major bases better, so be it. For you and your recruting it might suck but for me and 95% of the rest of the military community, it doesn't really matter because we are not the ones out of a job. Half of the Gov employees out there take too much of an advantage of those bases anyway. I think they shoudn't get all the "rights" that they get now unless they were retired. When I was stationed at Cherry Point, they used to get first dibs on hunting areas on base because civilians ran the enviromental shack. What's up with that The heck with them guys I always said
HarvDog
Re: Base Closures - BRAC So Mike...when are you heading to the drill field? You'll have to let me know how that goes. I had always considered that when I was in.
7th
Re: Base Closures - BRAC I know that Sen. Bird is smoking mad about the 130th being on the block and I do not like the thought much myself but we will still get our C-130s to jump from some ware. Like TSBH said, I still have my job and they will also if they would like. Only thing I have to say is some one with more stripes then I made this up. Guest Finn
Re: Base Closures - BRAC Recruiting Doctors and other medical officers for the Air Force is a world of difference from being a Marine enlisted recruiter. My neighbor in Mass was a Marine recruiter and we never saw him. Those hours are unreal. Then, if he missed quota, they may call him to HQ at midnight of mission day to explain it. Air Force guys don't do that.
