Buying bowstrings

Are the cables part of a bowstring? Do I have to replace the cable's and buy them seperate from the bowstring?

What should I look for in a bowstring? - the only kind I've heard of are Zebra Strings, are they too expensive? Where do I buy them?

I think that's enough questions.

Re: Buying bowstrings

Most of the bowstrings I've seen, you have to purchase the cables seperate. I'm sure there are some combination deals out there, though.

The main thing to look for in a bowstring is durability. On the norm, the higher the bowstring the longer they will last and the less they will twist/stretch.

I recently purchase a set of Winner's Choice. I have to say that I'm impressed. I've shot at least 300 hundred shots and it hasn't stretched.

Your local pro shop should be a good place to start. They can give you advice whereas Cabelas, Lancaster Archery and the others are mainly for knowing what you want and buying it.

Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Winners choice, GAS bowstrings, and Vapor Trail all make great quality strings and cables. Currently, I'm shooting Vapor Trail strings and cables and have nothing but good things to say about them.

Re: Buying bowstrings

Thanks guys

Do you usually replace cables the same time as strings? How do you know if the cables are worn out? I know the string length is on the bow, is the cable length on their too? How do you know how long the cable is?
