I have the opportunity to buy a 2003 suzuki eiger 400 for a great price. I would use it primarily for deer hunting, building stands and things like that. Would this size and model be good for this purpose. I do not know much about suzuki's so I need some help!!!!

Thanks--Rossman

Good machine. almost all of the atv companys have been forced the step up their quality and durabilty to compete with honda.

Check to make sure the quad had not been abused or swamped. A good check is to pull the manual start rope and see if it is caked in mud. The brakes are another way to check to see if the machine has been abused. When you take it for a test ride, don't be easy on it. an abused machine will act normal until it is pushed a little.

I will check the manual start rope. How should the brakes react? I tried the brakes and thay work but it seems as if you need to sqeeze hard. Is this normal?

We have a few Suzuki's, no eigers, but they are all very durable, versatile and tough. I would recommned a suzuki to anyone. As for the brake thing ours are pretty stiff, but if you don't like it i am sure you could have it loosened some.

That's a good machine. I have a Suzuki King Quad 300 and an Arctic Cat 300 both 4x4's. If power is what your question is about. The 300's are more than powerful enough to use to get you through the woods, dragging deer out or hauling them out on the rear rack.

Man if the price is right and the machine has been taken care of then I would say buy it...Over the last several years the ATV industry has been swamped with a step up in the production of quality products so they are all decent. I personally love Honda's, but due to a situation kind of like the one you are talking about I now have a Polaris Sportsman.....and for the money I paid....I love it. I do have a buddy that has the model you are talking about and he loves his. It seems to have plenty of power and Suzuki is a decent bike....After all they started the whole four wheeler revalution!

I just bought my Eiger 400 2 days ago. The reviews were very good and love it so far. Should do very well for hunting. I am counting on it. Good luck
