TreeStandBowHunter
I am about to take out some chipmunks. They are tearing up my garden and my salt lick stations. It is legal here in Mass to hunt them so I am going to brush up on my aim as well. A judo point should be enough for them right???
LifeNRA
Re: Chipmunks with a bow Better buy a kids bow! That way you dont mess up the meat or hide too bad! Anything bigger might mess up the mounting process too! Sorry Mike! LMBO!!!!

TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Chipmunks with a bow [ QUOTE ] You've got more money than I have if your shooting arrows at chipmunks! [/ QUOTE ] Or I am just a better shot than you LMBO...I have shot at things smaller. I don't think a chippy will give me much more trouble . Anyway, if you have ever shot Judo points, you will know that unless you really suck or do an "Oops" and hit a tree directly, your arrow will be fine....especially for us carbon users

Bow Hunter Derek
Re: Chipmunks with a bow Use the larger judos and you probably will never loose an arrow. I hunt small game all the time with my bow. Judos and flu flu arrows result in a lot of kills, a ton of fun, and very rarely a lost arrow. Have fun! TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Chipmunks with a bow Yeah I agree, it's pretty hard to break or lose an arrow with Judo's on them. I think I have the small ones. Not sure if I ever seen the big ones. My small ones should work fine. They fly pretty much the same. I used them a few times for squirrels last year . I practice alot in the yard with plastic bottle caps and can usually hit a bottle cap at 20 yards 5-6 times out of 10 times. Here chippy chippy chippy

Tominator
Re: Chipmunks with a bow Yep, it can be done. [image][/image] Notice the little bald spot on the noggin of that chipmunk. I took this chipmunk out with my son's $12 fiberglas bow using a $1 fiberglas arrow. My kids were target shooting earlier in the day and were about to finish up when I noticed this munk sitting in the crotch of a tree about 10 yards away. I told my son to grab me an arrow, so I nocked one up, and shot. I missed 3 inches low to the right. To our amazement the chipper didn't move, so I nocked another, compensated up and left, and WHAMMO! right in the bean. The chipmunk went flying and the kids went nuts. We went to the back of the tree to find a dazed chipper. My son picked it up, I snapped some photos and by this time the chipmunk had regained his senses and we let him go in the neighboring woods. Still can't believe I hit that thing right in the bean. [image][/image]

Didn't you get flamed on this board for that exact same story line and set of pictures you posted a year ago or so? Hmmmmmmmm...... Good luck with your hunt Mike, hope you bag a biggun! too_pointer
Re: Chipmunks with a bow Man, isn't that like a robin or something Geez, I hate to see the "trophy" in here I luv them critters, but I understand if they are causing trouble. Even a field point will put them down. Trap them and bring them over to my house too_

Oh well, can't make everyone happy. The ones who get upset about killing vermin are the ones that have never had property destroyed by said vermin. Chipmunks burrow under my deck and sidewalk, chew through the siding on my garage, eat my bird seed container, etc., etc. And, man, if you can't laugh at a 40 year old, pot bellied has been stunning a chipmunk with a $12 bow while a fan club of little people cheering you on, you have to slow down and smell the flowers for crying out loud. They are sneaking through somehow in my garage too. I never bothered chipmunks before until I got here. Even out hunting deer and squirrel them pesty things would make so much noise I couldn't stand it but I never messed with them. But now it's war. They are messing up my yard and garden and getting in everything because they are over populated at my residence People will always gripe about this stuff. But, they will get over it, if not...tough chippies
Squirrelhunter91
Re: Chipmunks with a bow I've shot chipmunks with the bow before and believe me... it ain't easy. The arrow head that I have found that works best is a field tip with an adder point or a grasshopper tip behind it. This will insure the animal getting pinned and not going far. I have had passthroughs with this setup, but the animal was pinned and bled out immediately. I also blasted the end of one of my carbon arrows and my dad and I krazy glued a spent 30-30 cartridge to the tip of the arrow. It doesn't have the same trajectory as the arrows with the field tips and the adder points do, but it will get r done. I also want to add that the grasshopper and adder points have no effect on arrow flight and flu-flu fletching is not necessary. I am shooting a 40# bow. I will post pics when I feel like it. Judo tips work well . I defiantley see the morning is better though. When I was eating my breakfast this morning, I could see about 5 of them out in the back yard around the garden. I don't have time to mess with them in the morning though.
