MCH
If I were planning on shooting hunter class only I would use 3 pins. 20, 30 & 35.
Tony
Re: How many pins for hunter class? in IBO Hunter class you are only allowed 4 pins... whatever distances you want to set is up to you.. typical pin setup for hunter class is a 20 , 25 , 30 , 35 pins... but i will say you probably wont seen anything under 10 yards.. learn to use your 20 yard pin for everything from 20 yards to 10 yards.. it should shoot really close.... but if they pop a real close one like some courses around here do .. your 30 yard pin is about deadon at 5 yards.. practice the close ones just in case... Pinwheel5
Re: How many pins for hunter class? I have a tip that always helped me. You hardly ever see a target at even yardage for the pins shooter classes. What I did was set my pins at 22.5, 27.5, 32.5, 37.5 and 42.5. I pretty much eliminated pin gapping and held dead on all the time. Easy way to to do this is just set your pins even at 20, 25 and so on and then lower the gang elevation, setting all the pins at once for the uneven settings. Guest cornbread
Re: How many pins for hunter class? I shoot hunter class and i shoot 25, 35, 45. asa max is 45 +3 for error. Many people shoot 20, 30 ,40 for hunter class but you very rarely see shoots at even yardages you will see alot of 37 or 32 yards and this is where the 35 yard pin comes in handy because you dont spend 75% of your time gapping your pins but you can hold your 35 yard pin just a litle high or low (Im talking 1-2 inches) also a 45 comes in handy when one is stretched out you can hold the 45 at the bottom of the 12 ring and if you mis judge the yardage ( thinking it is 43 but it is 38 ) you will still be in the 10 ring.
