GWSmith
Looking for a rifle both my Wife and I could shoot thats not going to be too hard for her to handle...Opinions??? Looking into Autoloaders because of the reduced felt recoil.
David_218
Re: Opinions on a Remington 7400 in .270 My Friend, in Kentucky, has a Remington M-7400 in .270 and it is a nice light-kicking rifle. He has killed several Deer, Coyotes, and even Groundhogs with that rifle. The also make it in .308 which would be a good choice too.
JimT
Re: Opinions on a Remington 7400 in .270 I am not a big fan of autos. I would rather see her with a 7600 in .308 with a good recoil pad. That would kick the same if not less than the 7400. But seeing she is your wife, I guess I will let you decide...lol.
AJ
Re: Opinions on a Remington 7400 in .270 [ QUOTE ] That would kick the same if not less than the 7400. [/ QUOTE ] Nope, the 7400 will have less recoil. The gas system that cycles the action reduces the recoil. Another option is the BAR. too_pointer
Re: Opinions on a Remington 7400 in .270 I have the 7400 in .270, and love it It has never jammed and is a sweet shooter for me. I had the same gun in 30-06 that was fine, just prefered the lighter recoil. too_pointer

I was thinking the .308 started with less recoil to begin with, and it is the other way around. I would still get the 7600 though.

[/ QUOTE ] I looked at the BAR but my research is finding the BAR about a pound heavier. One of the reasons for going with the .270 instead of the .243 was the .243 would not be legal to hunt with in West Virginia(Family Property)...they require a deer hunting weapon have at least a .25 caliber. too_pointer
Re: Opinions on a Remington 7400 in .270 Go with the .270 ( just my opinion ) Any good shot you make on an animal will put it down, and yes, the recoil is lots less than the 30-06, I know that for a fact !! too_
Shaun_300
Re: Opinions on a Remington 7400 in .270 if you were going to go with an auto, i'd get a Browning BAR, if you wanted a Remington, go with the 7600. the 7400 would definetly kick less than the 7600. but i know too many 7400's that jam!
