Re: Season Opener (I know it\'s only June)

Just like gfourhunter said. Indiana has a 15 day early goose season that starts on Sept. 1. Dove too. Then there is early teal that is 14 days (I think). We focus on goose hunting at that time of the year, so I don't keep track of the dove and teal seasons.

Regular duck season opens in mid-October, goose season is later. They change the dates every year based on some calendar formula that they use.

Can't wait for Sept. 1st!

I don't hunt the early hunts, but have an early woodie/teal season in September along with a early goose season.

Regular duck season opens around Thanksgiving weekend and closes, then opens again for real a round the first weekend of December.

The good duck hunting starts around Christmas...the great duck hunting starts the middle of January.

hey covehntr,

The early season here in Ga will open up sometime in September. Boy oh boy, that will be awesome. For the first time in my life, I will be hunting geese on peanut fields. We have a heck of a setup this year. Over 1000 acres of peanut fields all right next to a lake that has a decent size resident canada population. This year is gonna be fun, if I can just get away from studying long enough.

Yeah, i'm up to my neck right now with Organic Chemistry II. . .not fun. Did some driving when i was back home last weekend and found some big corn fields that i had permission to hunt 4 or so years ago (its been cotton the last few) that were coming up good. Had lots of geese back then. . . i'm on the hunt for the guy that gave me permission back then to see what the deal is. Already have one place that should have geese that we were told we could hunt this year, if he holds true to his word and the geese are still there. All of my honey holes are covered in cotton or laying fallow this year. . . . fixing to start scouting the public waters. . . this early season may hurt. smirk.gif
