iabow
Found some of my old baseball cards from my youth, not to old, 80s early 90s. Was wondering if anyone knew a place I could check the value of some of them? Man looking at some of these cards brings back memories. Thanks
markyj987
Re: Baseball card prices Find a local card shop and buy a Beckett's Baseball Card Monthly magazine...it's a great resource, but just remember that the real value is what people are willing to pay for them...lol
markyj987
Re: Baseball card prices I have another thought on this for you. A few years ago, I bought both a Paul Molitor and Robin Yount rookie card on the internet. Paid less than $50 for the both of them--much less than book value. bulldawg
Re: Baseball card prices I just bought the 2005 Standard Catalogue of Baseball Cards and prices last weekend. If you want to email me the numbers, the set they came out of (Topps, Fleer, etc) and the year and players, I will be happy to look them up for you, if there isn't a huge pile of them...lol. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Baseball card prices I have a big box of cards myself, early 80's and 90's and someday I thought about selling them. I have alot of rookie cards but when baseball went on strike and now the steriod controversary will these cards ever be anything? Hope so. I may try e-bay myself!! MCH
Re: Baseball card prices It's very rare to find good cards from the early 80's and 90's. Rookies will be the only thing worth money and even then you're not talking huge money unless they're graded. What most people run into when they find cards from that decade is that they are from the cheaper sets, say the 88 Donruss. The whole set won't reach 40. Also, on e-bay, expect to get less than 50% BV on most cards. The market has become diluted. For instance, I sold a Nook Logan certified auto rookie on ebay last week and it only brought 3.49. For an auto??
DSGB
Re: Baseball card prices I've always used Beckett to price my cards, even though I don't plan on selling any of them.
iabow
Re: Baseball card prices Thanks guys, sorry for the late reply, been away. I went to my library and they had a 03 beckett. I haven't had time to check out my good cards yet but priced a few of my rookies and they don't go above a dollar. Some of my cards were not even in there, I got a whole lot more I want to check out, if any are worth anything I let you know. Bad thing is I gave a whole big paper bag full of 60s-70s topps away a few years ago and I see a few of them were worth something. Well thanks again. iabow
Re: Baseball card prices Well I priced a few more the highest I found was a $12 Barry Bonds. Some of my prospect( sean lowe, jason giambi, dmitri young, vinny castilla, kenny lofton, ryan klesko, jeromy burnitz the few I know),draft and rookie cards I couldn't find. But I have some O-Pee-Chee premier 1993 that are not in the book. I have Frank thomas, Dennis Eckersley,Tim Salmon and a 91 O.P.C premier Ken Griffey JR to name a few. Any idea what those would go? One more thing are 1991 pro set nfl cards worth any thing rice, elway, montana, marino, barry sanders? Sorry for the trouble Thanks.
MCH
Re: Baseball card prices OK...the pro set is a lower end product. The OPC's are also. Beckett will leave off some products if they aren't very valuable. You're best bet on any of those cards is to get them graded. This costs a pretty penny but it will pay off if the cards are in mint condition. That $12 Barry could be worth 500(guess) if it's a BGS 10. AJ
Re: Baseball card prices Yep, the card collecting went South fast. Its hard to get anything out of them unless they are graded. I have all of my Dad's cards now and they are worth a small fraction of what they were. He started in 1989 along with millions of other collectors. Dad collected Nolan Ryan cards. I do have most of Ryan's cards. Even the oddball stuff.
iabow
Re: Baseball card prices Thanks for your help. The only problem on the 87 donruss Bonds card is its not mint, one corner has a small crease. I have alot of others the book shows in the $1-$2 range in mint, what is all involved in haveing them graded? I appreicate your help. brownie65
Re: Baseball card prices you can go to Becketts website & enter the card on their price search & it will tell you its book value.
