New Lease land

Well, as some of you have heard! I hit the jackpot! South Central Wisconsin Lease property, in the Baraboo Bluffs, 143 acres... and it is beautiful! Went out to do some scouting today, but it was 84 and humid as heck... so we wimped out. Snapped a few pics. The corn field is in the middle of the property and is only roughly 20 acres, which gives you and idea how much woods run up through the bluff! Can't wait till August! [image]

Re: New Lease land

No too.... I signed the lease as sole leasee... so I have complete rights to the property (regarding tresspass rights and hunting rights). I also wrote into the lease that I can use my ATV, camp on the site, and cut firewood off of dead and downed trees....

Re: New Lease land

Very nice. Did you have a hard time finding a lease in Wisconsin? Just don't hear of that much.

Was it expensive? Land is so stinking high, it's probably smarter to lease.

Re: New Lease land

Finn, Like I said.. It was 143 acres. I have been hunting the farmers land for 3 years, of which time he has had this property leased to another group of hunters (who were pretty rough on the property). When he got frustrated with them (like a sly dog), I offered to assume the lease. This is the fourth property in 2 years which I have had a chance to lease... although the first lease I have signed.

Last year I hunted nearly 2000 acres on 4 different farms and didn't lease any of it. This year I wanted sole rights to property.

As far as cost??? I guess it depends on what you consider expensive? I pay his taxes on the property, they are by no means cheap... but I would have to pay the taxes + mortgage + up keep if I owned it... so it seems fair to me! If your looking to lease I can give you a few hints to find property... it really isn't that tough.

Re: New Lease land

if you got a couple of leasing tips, I could sure use them. Where I hunt now, the farmer lost his property and I dont know how to go about finding a new lease
