wtnhunt Posted June 15, 2005 Report Share Posted June 15, 2005 Got home to a couple messages on the answering machine from my mother after my step fathers appointment with the neuro surgeon. She said my step father, Joe wanted to come see our girls before he had anything done and the doctors would not let him, they sent him straight to Vanderbilt in Nashville. I tracked him down after about a half a dozen calls in the ICU in the neuro unit and got to talk with him for as long as he could stand to talk. He goes in for another MRI tonight or tomorrow and then surgery Thursday unless something happens between now and then. The doctors are concerned that the tumor could explode. The tumor is between the two lobes of the brain and they plan to use a computerized surgical procedure from what he said. Talked to the nurse in the ICU and she said we could get the kids in to see him during visiting time, so we are going to take off of work and leave out early in the morning and take the two and a half to three hour trip since he could not get here to see them. He is supposed to get into surgery today, they could not give us a definite time. The neuro surgeon gives him a sixty percent chance of not ending up in a vegetative state. His wishes are not to be kept alive if that happens and he took care of making sure that is handled yesterday while we were all there. Hopefully will get back some good news later today.
