well some of you know that I am a volunteer fireman....lastnight I just got into bed and the tones go off fo a bad car wreck...living in a small place we mite get 1 or 2 a year.....anyway I get there and 2 20 some yearolds are trapped inside....after a bit we got them out....then they tell us there was 3 of them....we looked all over the side of the road the wreck was on and no luck....THEN some found him on the other side of the road some 75 feet from the car...we ran over and I tried for a pulse....the kid was dead

so we were all in sort of in shock!!!

then the tones go off again another car wreck not 10 miles away...I was one of the first there and started to help with CPR when the meds got there they checked him out and pronunced him dead too.

I have never had a night like that before now its 8:30 in the morning I can not sleep and my hands are shaking....thanks guys I just had to get that off my chest.

here is a pic of the first wreck.

Sounds like a very definitely night. Very sad. However, please know that the work you do is very much appreciated.

ditto, it's not an easy job, and how you guys do it is beyond me. But if it wasn't for you guys, so many more lives would be lost, that's my definition of a hero.

I recently looked at the photos of my truck that I was cut out of by the rescue squad this last winter.

I could not get out on my own...believe me I tried.

My left shoulder and side was laying in snow and icy water.

When I think about the crash I can still feel the hands of the rescue person who held and supported my neck straight after breaking through the rear window...he was the first to get to the crash.

Muff, If not for the people like you who do your kind of work....I would not be here.

I cant thank you, and others like you, with enough heartfelt gratitude for your dedication.

You do what you can...That says alot about you as a person!!!

ditto,couldn't agree more.

Your only human and only so much you can do.Just being there willing and ready to help is more then most could take.

Hope you can put last night behind you and continue your fine work.

Re: BAD,BAD,BAD NIGHT!

Hey buddy, whether these people live or die rests with God...not you. So don't sweat it.

However, when you do get a chance to be a part of saving people's lives, remember those nights.

Sorry it was a bad one....regardless of who is in control it must be hard to see it.

Thanks for all you do,

New

Re: BAD,BAD,BAD NIGHT!

Thanx for being one of the few that can handle that job.I just heard on the radio that there was a bad one here last night.A car load of teenagers head on into a truck.3 dead,3 in hospital.WHY??? In British Columbia a "New Driver" can only have 1 other person other than a family member in the vehicle whith them while driving. This law was brought in I believe to keep them from filling the car full of kids & having a party on wheeles.I wish they had that law here.a couple of those kids might be alive & in school this morning.I feel for the families.God bless.

God bless you Muff for being able to do a job like that. It takes a special person to be able to do that each day of his life, you never know what the call will be but the outcome can be alot like you witnessed last night.

I came across an accident like that years ago, 2 teens were dead and 1 hurt very bad. To know a son and daughter will not be going home that night makes you realize how precious life is. I miss that accident by a matter of minutes as I could have been in it. Car missed a stop sign and went airborne throwing the victims from it. Scary scene that was for sure. Life brought on a whole new meaning when you see stuff like that.

God bless you Muff and if you ever need to talk just send me a PM buddy!!

Re: BAD,BAD,BAD NIGHT!

Wow, very sad night. two of my friends, 18 and 19 were killed in the past two weeks, both were car accidents, the 19 year old was in the car with a drunk driver, and my other friend pulled out onto the Trans-Canada highway, he didnt see the truck coming, and got T-boned. frown.gif

Re: BAD,BAD,BAD NIGHT!

Well our chief called me this evening to ask if I wanted to talk to someone or if I was ok...I told him I talked it out with my wife and held my kids all day.I feel beter now,but I guess a few of the young lads on the crew were very upset last night so its good to see they will get some help to try to work though the memories of that awful night.

by the way everyone my wife always gives me grief when I am here for so long...I sat her down a said please read some of the feed back I got from the guys and gals on this forum...see come back to me in tears and said now I see why you LOVE it there...they are some very special people there and she wanted me to say THANK YOU for helping me work though this.....once again realtree forum members show how special they are THANK YOU ALL!!!
