AJ
What do you consider to be real old? It's all relative. Perhaps if you provide us with a good description (make, model, gauge, barrel length, choke, all but the last few digits of the serial number, etc) we can help you out. AJ
Re: how to find out how old a gun is? Lets see, the info you give does not give much to go on. Is the barrel stamped with "Springfield Arms" Chicopee, Ma? Springfield was a lower quality gun produced by Stevens and later by Savage, who then merged with Stevens in 1920. Springfield versions of the Stevens 311 were available well into the 1970's. Sorry I can not give closer details of your gun. I may even be way off. This is my guess though.
